The Covering House

The Covering House Restoring the lives of sexually trafficked youth in the U.S. The Covering House is a therapeutic recovery program for youth who have been sexually trafficked.

Our COVER Care™ program is being licensed and copyrighted as an evidence-based program for national distribution. The program integrates specialized therapies (horticulture, equine, culinary, and arts/expressions) with experiential learning, individual and group therapy, sensory diet, and a full in-house, trauma-informed education program designed to meet the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs of survivors. Since 2009, The Covering House has served 440+ children and teens and educated 11,000+ at-risk youth on trafficking red flags and self-protective behaviors.

A woman named Corrie commented on this post and tagged The Covering House. We're sharing her comment, because what she said is true and we've seen it happen with the youth we serve. Thank you for bringing awareness to how this happens, Corrie. We're glad we can help these kids find healing and provide prevention training to keep other kids safe.

"For those questioning this, it's grooming. They find children estranged from their families or from very challenging home lives and offer them the world. Those opportunities are sold to them as "bettering" themselves. Come work for us as a waitress/cleaner/server/busser/bar girl and we will make you connections. We will help you with school. We will make you a model. We will (insert shiny promised future here). They start slowly and use other girls/women to bring them into s*xual encounters one encounter at a time. Where are the parents? The girls who they choose to target do not have strong parental figures. Why didn't they know? They are children. Why did they agree? Another child or mother figure close to their age held their hand. It's unconscionable. It's not their fault. If you want to do something donate to organizations like The Covering House or similar non profits in your area. It matters that we stand up for these victims. They were children."

The Covering House serves youth who have experienced trafficking and exploitation.

When a girl walks through the doors of our residential home, she is greeted with open arms and receives 24/7 care, therapy, education, and a place to heal.

We’re building a brand-new home—to double the number of girls served. We are looking for generous community members to step up for these kids!

Shout out to the men of F3 St. Louis for helping us prepare for our big move! They helped us power wash our current residential home, move big items, and clear out some old sheds so we can leave the home in good shape. When we move into our new residential home, we will return the keys to the generous owners who let us use the home for ten years, completely rent free!
