🎵🦆 Music therapy isn’t just about instruments! Sometimes, it’s about rubber ducks and a silly song.

In this clip, Ms. Lydia follows the client’s lead, creating a playful stacking game and spontaneous song based on his interest in the rubber ducks. Together, they explore gestures and his known gestalt phrases of “Oh no, they fell down!” and “Do it again!” — building communication, emotional expression, and joy.

This is what client-centered music therapy looks like: honoring a child’s curiosity, using everyday toys in creative ways, and making music together that’s just right for the moment. 💛

When a parent shares how music therapy is making a difference, it means the world. Thank you for your trust.

New Tool Spotlight: Animal Castanets! 🐸🐷

We just added these adorable animal castanets to our toolkit — a fun, musical way to support fine motor skills during sessions! 💪👐

Tools like this help our clients build hand strength, coordination, and control — all of which support important milestones like handwriting, self-care (like zipping and buttoning), and expressive play.

✨ Bonus: They’re affordable and easy to use at home too! Parents — this is a great way to keep little hands busy and engaged between sessions.

Songs that teach and connect! 🎶

In this joyful session, our young client engages in a playful flower pot song to support both speech and early learning.

Using Developmental Speech and Language through Music (DSLM™)—our neurologic music therapists support clients in:

• Strengthening speech and articulation
• Building early math and counting skills
• Practicing attention and turn-taking
• Boosting confidence through musical play

Every note and movement is thoughtfully designed to support communication and cognitive growth—one song at a time. 🌼🗣️🧠

While we've been walking down memory lane for our 20th anniversary, we've also been celebrating exciting new growth! Join us in giving a huge, belated welcome to Ms. Tessa, who joined our Musical Bridges family on May 30th! Tessa is dual-degreed in music therapy and music education, bringing a wide range of experience across all ages and populations from her internship at a music therapy nonprofit. She's integrated beautifully into our schedule, and we're absolutely thrilled to have her on our team! Happy 1-month anniversary, Ms. Tessa!

A significant 'first' for our 20th anniversary series! Here's a look at our very first Board of Directors, composed of a parent representative, a lawyer, a CPA, and a general manager. Forming this board was a big and exciting step in officially moving our nonprofit mission forward and unlocking new possibilities for Musical Bridges. We appreciate their dedication!

Today's 20th anniversary memory is a truly historic one: our very first news story, featured on News Channel 5! We were honored when helped us share Ms. Lydia's inspiring journey through childhood cancer and how it led her to music therapy. It was such a special day, allowing us to share our story with a broad audience, and we eagerly hope for opportunities to do so again!

For our 20th anniversary series, we're reliving the excitement of our inaugural summer camp! This was a fantastic week of music, creativity, and connection for both children and teens, all building towards a special performance for their families. A massive thank you to our devoted volunteers, like Mr. Danny (pictured), whose generosity and enthusiasm were essential to its success. Interested in lending your talents?
