August updates

Hi! Hope this finds you in good health and excellent spirits.

I wanted to give you an update on how my practice is currently running.

When you arrive at Suvia Suites please check my suite, 129, to see if I'm available. If the curtain is open come on in. If the curtain is closed or I am wrapping up with the last client, please wait in the front lobby and I will be with you asap.

Currently mask are not required to be worn during massages. However I am making the personal choice to wear an N95 during all massages. You do what you feel safest for your situation.

As always, I will continue to run my Molekule air purifier at all times. I do run it on high between each session. This is normally at least 20 mins. The disinfection routine I have established using county and state guidelines is rigorous and all linens are sanitized daily.

If you are feeling at all sick please cancel as soon as possible. I can normally fill an appointment time if I have at least 24hrs. If you feel like you MIGHT make it the next day, please just cancel. No cancellation fees for illness or emergencies.

December Covid-19 updates

Information update for my wonderfully patient clientele.

Beginning Dec 7 through January 4 Contra Costa county's stay at home order includes the closure of all non medical massage studios. This order may be extended. I will send out another update for January as information becomes available.

I am leaving the appointment calendar unchanged until December 14th. This will give you the opportunity to access your Dec. appointment and reschedule for a January date.

In a recent survey by the American Massage Therapy Association 86% of people believe that massage therapy helps reduce pain. It was also agreed upon that it should be covered by insurance.

Ears have over 300 acupressure/puncture points. No wonder it feels good to massage them.

Had a great combination of massage today. A family of three received two half hour chair massages and a one hour massage. One person had little experience with massage and felt more comfortable being fully clothed and more upright in the massage chair. The other person had a recent surgery and could not lay down flat. The chair allowed the individual the support needed to relax without being stretched out.
Massage is accessible to nearly everyone, you just need to fond the right modality.

It is recommended that everyone should stretch. You did this morning, right? Well most people don't stretch nearly as often as they should, if at all. I have a challenge for you. Tomorrow morning take an extra minute to stretch even before you get out of bed. Really stretch your arms out. Wiggle your toes. It feels good. Take it a step further and do five minutes of stretching while your coffee drips if you feel you can. Stretching can improve your quality of life. Start slow and ask your doctor if you have concerns about your own physical limitations.

Have you ever considered your massage therapist level of education? Have you ever considered if they are insured? Many states now have certification available for massage therapist. This requires the massage therapist to have a minimum amount of education (500 hours in Ca), insurance, and a background check.
Until recently, many cities did not require proof of any of these items. Next time you go to a spa or massage facility, don't be afraid to ask about thier policy on state certification or education requirments. You might be surprised.

Long-term care and hospice organizations are including massage therapy services more than ever berfore. Funding for treatments can come from grants and endowments. If you have a family member or friend who might benefit from massage to ease pain or increase mobility, let them know to check into thier facility or cities' senior center. Funding may be available for them!
