Most people don’t realize what their favorite songs are actually saying.

ā€œI’ve never actually looked at the lyrics beforeā€¦ā€ I hear this all the time. And usually in that moment, something shifts.

Suddenly, the song you’ve listened to a hundred times is saying something new. Or maybe… it’s been there all along, and you’re finally ready to hear it. šŸ’š

Lyrics can act like a mirror. They can help us answer questions, notice patterns, feel more empowered, and understand ourselves on a deeper level.

If you usually connect to the rhythm or melody, try this:
go back and read the lyrics to a song you listen to often. šŸŽ§
You might find answers you didn’t even know you were looking for.

Are you a lyrics person or a rhythm/melody person?

My passion is helping others tap into the creative tools they already have access to.

You have access to one of the most powerful tools for your nervous system, your emotions, your expression…music! šŸŽ¶

Thanks to modern technology, it’s available to you at any moment.

But if you’ve ever wondered how to actually use it for your wellbeing, or even why it works for you, that’s where my work as a music therapist comes in.

It’s not about being a musician. It’d about learning how to work with music intentionally to regulate, process, and express.

If you’re curious, I’d love to explore that with you. šŸ’š

What if instead of thinking about music as a way of capturing a moment like a time capsule…we used it to transmit like a time portal? šŸ¤” Get ready, this one is a little different.

Also, special shoutout to BLG. I’m still thinking about your show at The Ryman Auditorium last week. Not only was it an incredible show, but it sparked a profound connection with myself and my creativity. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart! šŸ’š

Even music therapists need that nudge sometimes to connect with their music too. šŸ˜‰

The last two years studying Vocal Psychotherapy in the UK changed me in ways I’m still putting into words. Personally and professionally, I’m not the same woman who started, and I could never have predicted the profound impact this experience would have on me.

I feel so much love and gratitude for the women in this group. We came from all over the world, yet shared so much in common. I’ve learned from each of them in ways I’ll carry with me forever. ā¤ļø Thank you to my fellow AVPTs, and thank you to , .warnock1, and for your support, wisdom, warmth, and presence.

After graduating last week, I can now say I’m the first Vocal Psychotherapist in Tennessee. What an honor. And what a beautiful new beginning. ✨

When I worked in the hospital, I can’t count how many times I heard this when I walked into a patient’s room: ā€œOh, I’m not creative.ā€

It was usually said with a little hesitation, like music therapy required some kind of talent.

But what if I told you we’re all creative… simply because we’re human?

Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped thinking of ourselves as creative. Maybe you were criticized when you tried to sing or draw as a child. Maybe you were taught creativity is only for people with musical or artistic ā€œtalent.ā€

But creativity was never meant to be limited to art forms.

It’s how we solve problems, express ourselves, and imagine new possibilities.

It can show up in the way you cook a meal, decorate a space, solve a challenge at work, or put together an outfit in the morning.

Creativity is part of being human.

✨ You were creative then.
✨ You’re creative now.

Sometimes we just need permission to start playing again.

In music therapy, we know growth happens in relationship.
The same is true in leadership.

We’re no longer performing solo. We’re jamming together. And we’re having a lot of fun while doing it. šŸŽ¶

A side of the woman behind Music & Miracles you’ve never seen before… 🄰

When you work with me, you’re not just working with who I am today. You’re working with every version of me that came before.

The girl who felt everything so deeply but didn’t yet have the words or coping tools. The girl who made up songs, skits, and dances just for the joy of it. The girl who was already using creativity as a way to feel, express, and connect. ✨

She’s still here with me as I evolve. And she’s part of the reason I’m here, sitting with you. šŸ’š

A while back, a client and I said the exact same thing at the exact same time. They paused, let out a deep relaxed sigh, and said, ā€œI just knew you were the right therapist for me.ā€ 🄹

Moments like that are such a powerful reminder that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right fit matters. Not every music therapist is meant for every client…and that’s okay. In fact, it’s really important to recognize.

Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is essential to successful treatment, which is why trust, connection, and alignment are so important on both sides.

Here are a few reminders about what it really means to find the right therapeutic fit, for clients and music therapists.

Does any of this resonate with you? šŸ¤”

January always feels like a natural moment for self-reflection. And it made me think… what if instead of a yearly gratitude jar or memory jar, we created a yearly playlist to capture the moments, emotions, and themes that shape us?

Music helps us drop into our bodies, so this becomes a full-sensory way to look back. It lets us feel the growth we’ve made, not just think about it.

Your playlist can hold it all:
✨New songs you discovered
✨Places you traveled
✨Concerts you went to
✨People who changed you
✨Songs that supported your healing
✨Or even themes like your word of the year

Let me know if you’re going to try this with me.
And follow along for more ideas like this one. šŸ’š

My intention for 2026 is to be more vulnerable, and part of that means sharing more about my story. A few people have reached out asking how I became a music therapist, so I wanted to share a little bit of that with you.

Hopefully it reminds you that your path doesn’t have to be linear to be ā€œrightā€ and that you always have the option to change your mind. šŸ’š

šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø Phew. I had to pick my chin up off the floor after today’s session.

I love those moments in supervision when something lands differently and suddenly you’re seeing your work, yourself, and even music through a new lens.

Today reminded me how music mirrors so many aspects of life. How the same song can meet us in entirely different ways depending on the season we’re in…because it’s speaking to something specific inside us.

This is why I love what I do. I get to help shine light on those moments with my clients. And when a song keeps following you…it might be more than coincidence. šŸŽ¶āœØ

Still beaming from last week’s professional development workshop at 😁

I had the honor of sharing The Attunement Advantage with their Community Health Worker team. We explored the strategic advantage that sets high-performing teams apart. And the shift in the room said it all.
