DID YOU KNOW? 💭
Sleep is a fundamental pillar of brain health, with both insufficient AND excessive sleep impacting brain function!
Multiple studies indicate both too little AND too much sleep can be detrimental to health, with excessive sleep linked to impaired cognition and depression.
We know that consistent, shortened sleep is associated with cognitive decline and health problems like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, but it's also important to realize that a meta-analysis of 16 studies found that both short AND long sleep duration increased the risk of all-cause mortality.
The take-away? Seven to eight hours of sleep is optimal for cognitive health, so while we suggest getting to bed at a reasonable time each night, we also suggest skipping that snooze button! 😉💤
