Veteran’s Day is specifically observed on November 11th for a reason. Originally called Armistice Day, it was meant to not only commemorate the end of World War 1, but to memorialize the exact time the great guns all along the Western Front fell forever silent: It was the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.
In a world that increasingly opts for convenience over meaning, I’m glad we haven’t moved this day for the sake of an extended weekend. Here’s wishing all veterans the honor and respect they are due…tomorrow, today and every day.
It doesn't matter the color of the uniform, or what the insignias or chevrons are that are on it, all who serve are patriots. To our men and women in uniform, God bless you and thank you for bravely doing what you're called to do so we can safely do what we are free to do.
Happy Veterans Day and thank you for your service.
