At case conference last week, we welcomed the “fake fall” weather with breakfast and pumpkin spice refreshers and talked about fall prevention!
You may not know this, but part of our fall prevention program starts as soon as your nurse or therapist enters your home. Our clinicians are trained to have a sharp eye to identify any fall hazards the patient may not realize are there and assist the patient in making changes THAT SAME DAY!
Here are just a few of the main contributors to falls
1. Rugs
2. Pets
3. Stairs
4. Clutter in floors
5. Oxygen tubing or other cords
6. Medications
7. Wearing socks with no grib or without shoes
8. Low vision
9. Poor balance
10. Furniture that is too low or too high
