Thanksgiving means lots of food, and maybe some heartburn too. It's also GERD Awareness Week - a time to increase understanding about a chronic condition called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

If you experience frequent heartburn, regurgitation, or chest pain, you may have GERD. If left untreated, some patients with GERD may be at increased risk for a precancerous disease called Barrett's esophagus.
