PAUSE &
Take a moment when you need to

The end of the school year can feel like a sprint, a juggle, and a deep exhale all at once. If you’re feeling stretched thin, know that you’re not alone—and you’re not expected to carry it all. 👋🏽

Finding balance doesn’t mean having everything figured out. It means pausing, checking in, and giving yourself permission to slow down when you need it.

Your energy matters. Your well-being matters. And small shifts like a breath, a break, or a moment of self-compassion can make all the difference. 💜

This is actually a core principle in Imago Relationship Therapy. Our experiences in childhood, our experiences with our primary caregivers profoundly shape the way we show up in adult relationships

Every time I see a couple, I help them to understand each other's "operating instructions"

This doesn't mean using their history to excuse bad or unacceptable behavior.

Instead, it means being sensitive to the fact that knowing someone deeply is an incredibly loving act, and that while it's your partner's responsibility to do the emotional work on themself, it's the responsibility of someone who loves them to be gentle with their heart.

Food for thought 💭
Incompatible expectations regarding approach and frequency of s*x can be a major barrier within a relationship. What if we see it as a continuum? The more s*x we have, the happier we are in our relationship and the happier in our relationship, the more s*x we have?

There are many ways to work on your relationship…..one idea is that you can work on your emotional relationship for a better s*x life and work on your s*x life for a better emotional life. ❤️

Communicating where we are at might not be easy; however it’s necessary. This practice alone can drastically change how we as individuals and couples handle life on life’s terms. Coming together as a unified front, recognizing it’s us against the problem - not us against each other.

With 2025 fast approaching, prioritize some time to reflect on goals you’ve set, goals you’ve yet to focus on, and all you have accomplished!

When you’re done reflecting, check in with your partner to reflect on goals together. One of my favorite activities to do with couples is encourage them to sit down and each write goals for the new year. Try to prioritize 3️⃣ goals for your relationship over the next year (more date nights, more compliments, less interrupted time, etc).
