Hello and welcome to day 3 of
👣 WORLD REFLEXOLOGY WEEK👣

Today we will talk about who can benefit from a reflexology session.

When my 5th grandbaby was born, I began doing baby reflexology on his feet the day he came home from the hospital.
It wasn't easy the first few times. His little tootsies didn't like the strange sensation of being lightly rubbed. But I stuck with it, rubbing in circular motions motions for just a few minutes on each foot, while he lay in my lap.
Now, my daughter and each of her older 4 kids had colic as 2-3month olds, so it stood to reason that this little one would, too. Guess what? He had 2 occasions in which he got pretty fussy with intestinal discomfort, but my daughter was able to soothe him fairly quickly.

Early in my reflexology business journey, I had a client who suffered from diabetic neuropathy. His job was in HVAC for an airport. He was outside most of the day, pounding the concrete and climbing ladders to work on rooftop A/C systems. The resulting neuropathy made it difficult for him to sleep well. He decided to try weekly sessions to see how that worked for him. After a few weeks, it occurred to me that I'd neglected to ask about the pins-n-needles sensation in his lower legs and feet.
"Don’t have it anymore," he replied.
That is fantastic! When did it stop?
"After the first time you worked my feet".

Several months later, he reported that he had been able to drop one of his shots for diabetes and had lost just under 20lbs. Nothing in his daily routine, diet or level of exercise had changed; just the addition of regular reflexology sessions.

I've had the honor of doing reflexology for several young women during their pregnancies. The benefits they reported were less nausea/morning sickness symptoms, reduced swelling of lower legs and feet, headache and lower back pain relief, shorter labor and faster healing.

Reflexology is beneficial for babies, Seniors and everyone in-between. Why not book a session and experience for yourself what Reflexology can do?

Come back tomorrow for more information 🤗

Welcome to day 2 of WORLD REFLEXOLOGY WEEK!

Today we will explore how Reflexology works. At first glance, it looks much like a glorified foot massage. But the benefits of Reflexology literally go much deeper than that!

Recalling the 'Zone Therapy' created by Dr William Fitzgerald, picture the body, vertically sliced into 10 zones , five on either side of the spine. Organs, muscles and joints can be acted upon by working the corresponding area on the palms of the hands or soles of the feet.

Massage therapists can work directly on a particular area for pain relief and relaxation, but what about the client who is uncomfortable with un******ng for a session? And what about missing (phantom pains) or casted limbs?

Reflexology is a non-invasive therapy that can address issues with only the feet bared!
While my personal preference is to work on the feet, (because of the larger surface area) I have found that hand Reflexology is beneficial for those with "ticklish" feet, arthritis, repetitive tasks and the above mentioned missing or casted limbs.

I have successfully worked many feet of those who claim to have ticklish feet. In many instances, I have found that the tickle is actually a reactive area, where nerve endings signal discomfort in the form of sensitivity and are misconstrued as ticklish.

Back to the benefits of Reflexology!
Reflexology works on the widely accepted premise of pressure points that are "worked" by having varying degress of pressure applied, bringing the client pain relief or relaxation. Reflexology can help bring the body into balance, promote healing and circulation, reduce stress levels and boost the immune system.
As with most tissue manipulation therapies, there are few successful "one-n-done". Regular sessions are the most beneficial. Where one person may only need a monthly session, another may require weekly sessions to produce the desired outcome. My goal is to leave my client feeling better than when they came in. Together, we develop a plan that works best for their needs, schedule and financial situation.

Today kicked off World Reflexology Week. I plan to share what Reflexology is and its benefits. But first,
I'd like to share something I got to do this afternoon.

I was listening to WayFM and the radio host posed a call in question:
1) What is your job?
-> I am a self-employed Reflexologist.

2) What do you like best about it?
-> I get to share my God-given gift of relaxation and pain relief through healing touch.

I called into the station and was able to share my answers. I'll admit, I got emotional. I am so blessed to be given this gift. My hope and prayer is that
more people will seek out this chemical free method and learn what it can do for them!

The practice of Reflexology can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, India and China. It was introduced to the United States in the 1900's as 'Zone Therapy' by Dr William Fitzgerald.
In the 1930's, a woman named Eunice Ingham took zone therapy and began teaching the modern method of Reflexology.
Christine Gates, the mother of my teacher and mentor, LaVonna Gates Mills, studied Reflexology under Eunice Ingham and started her own practice. LaVonna learned these techniques from her mother and they started working together. They added massage therapy to their repertoire, creating, in my opinion, a beautiful blend of modalities for pain relief, healing and restoration.

I started my own business in September 2019. Along came COVID and my business was sidelined for a few months. Then my husband and I started construction of my home office, thus ensuring that I will be the only one who can shut it down again 🙂.

Check back tomorrow to learn more about REFLEXOLOGY.
