April is Autism Awareness Month
April is a time to grow in understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Autism isn’t one-size-fits-all, it’s a spectrum, which means every person’s strength, challenges, and experiences are unique.
Some meaningful facts to keep in mind:
• About 1 in 36 children are diagnosed with autism
• Autism is a lifelong developmental condition that affects communication, behavior, and social interaction
• Early support and intervention can make a big difference
• Many individuals with autism have incredible strengths, talents, and perspectives
Behind every diagnosis is a person, not a label. A child learning their own way, a parent advocating every day and a family navigating a world that doesn’t fully understand. This month is about more than awareness, it’s about acceptance, inclusion, and kindness. It’s about listening, learning, and creating spaces where everyone feels safe and valued.
Let’s be patient. Let’s be understanding. Let’s celebrate differences and support one another a little more intentionally.
