People often ask me "My Story & My Why" when it comes to my massage business and being my own boss. I knew I wanted to be a massage therapist since 7th grade during gym class. I would give neck and shoulder rubs to classmates and even teachers. That early spark of service has been with me my entire life—it’s not just a career; it’s a calling.
Fast forward, I spent 19 years in sales and marketing, learning the business world, mastering customer relationships, and discovering what it truly takes to succeed. These skills would later become my secret weapons as I pursued my dream of running my own massage business.
In 2007, I enrolled at Texas Massage Institute while juggling a full-time job, a 3-year-old son, and family responsibilities. I knew sacrifice was required, but I also knew it was worth it. My mantra was simple: “Mommy is building a future so I can be there for the moments that matter.”
I worked early mornings, late evenings, and weekends, leasing a small room from a recent graduate. Every dollar earned went toward the basics—sheets, towels, a massage table. Some weeks I broke even just to pay rent, but I never lost sight of the goal: building my brand, my foundation, and my freedom.
Owning your business isn’t glamorous in the beginning. You might not get paid immediately. You might have two jobs just to fund your dream. But remember this: every step, every small sacrifice, is an investment in YOU, your clients, and your future.
