Drinks, DJs & Extended Hours! Porchfest is almost here, and we’re fired up. Try our exclusive Porch Song Latte, made with fresh espresso, miso paste and maple syrup, creating that perfect mix of sweet and salty, to help you rock and roll through the day.

Join us for our Porchfest Pre-Party on Saturday at our Black Rock location from 9am–1pm. The coffee will be flowing and the beats will be spinning, courtesy of amazing DJ lineup, including:

But first, perk up at 9 AM with “Coffee & Conversation” at the Pequot Library, featuring Sefra Alexandra, aka The Seed Huntress, who’ll dig into regenerative agriculture. Plus, SoundCoffee will be there pouring brews strong enough to wake the flowers.

Join CTbites and the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater on Saturday, June 7 at 6 PM for Chefs on Stage, an epic evening of food, music, and drinks, right on the Amphitheater’s legendary stage.

Exciting Changes Brewing… Sound Coffee Black Rock Opens Today: March 1st! ☕️🎉

We’re honored to be stepping into your beloved neighborhood coffeehouse, and we know how much this space means to you. Our goal is to keep disruptions to a minimum while we take some time to get acquainted with the space before diving into physical improvements.

A few things to note: - Our open hours will remain the same as they were prior at each location, respectively

Our story

About 10 years ago my mother-in-law gave me green coffee beans for Christmas, along with home roasting instructions she printed off the Internet. She said, “I know how much you love coffee, so I thought you might enjoy roasting the beans yourself. They say fresh roasted coffee tastes better.” I started with an old 1980s popcorn popper I bought on eBay that held less than half a cup of beans at one time. Before long, I was hooked. I went from being someone who always needed a splash of milk in my coffee to drinking it black because the freshness and the flavor really are that much better. Soon enough, I invested in a Gene Cafe home roaster so I could roast a higher quantity of beans and better control roasting outcomes. I’ve been regularly roasting quality, socially-conscious beans ever since. I enjoy sharing my love of fresh roasted, quality coffee with friends old and new, which is why I started Buena Vista Coffee Roasters.
