Yesterday I attended the West Virginia Perinatal Summit, organized by the West Virginia Perinatal Partnership. There were many amazing presenters talking to an audience of prenatal medical professionals ( ob-gyn, nurses, midwives, doulas, etc…)

I was honored to be invited to talk to this esteemed group about pelvic floor physical therapy and how it can help perinatal women.

It was a wonderful day spent with my fellow healthcare professionals, learning ways to improve the lives of West Virginia women before, during, and after pregnancy .

Thank you to the West Virginia Perinatal Partnership for putting on an awesome event !

Today is National Smile Day.

You know who has a hard time smiling? People with TMJ jaw pain. This painful condition makes it hard to eat, yawn, chew, or even smile.

It is National Hamburger Day! A burger with all the fixins is a great way to start off the summer.
However, if you can't open your mouth to get all that juicy goodness in because of TMJ jaw pain, here are a couple of suggestions:

-Cut your burger into smaller bite size portions. The smaller mouth opening is easier on the jaw joint.

-Choose softer sides and toppings: chewing crunchy lettuce or even raw veggies such as onions can cause increased compression in the jaw joint leading to discomfort. Choose soft cheese and tomatoes instead.
