How to Grow Your Quads
Squats have always been the foundation of my quad development. Genetics definitely play a role, my relatively short femurs give me favorable leverages, allowing me to stay more upright and drive my knees forward into depth instead of relying on hip hinge mechanics.
But genetics aren't everything. Mobility is a huge factor in how effectively you can target your quads. For example, limited ankle mobility especially tight Achilles prevent your knees from moving far enough forward, cutting your depth short and shifting tension away from your quads. The deeper you can sink your hamstrings into your calves with proper form, the more quad recruitment you'll get.
Think of it like this: squats are not just about loading weight on your back, they're about maximizing leverages and mobility to make every rep build the muscle you want.

Most people don’t miss their goals because they’re too far out of reach they miss them because they keep second guessing. Set a goal, make a plan… then doubt it, change it completely, or start over. The truth is, real progress doesn’t come from constant reinvention it comes from trusting a solid plan and making small adjustments along the way. For years my only goal was size and strength. At my peak I was 5’9” and 233 lbs, completely focused on building as much muscle as possible. Every training session, every meal, every recovery decision was built around that one goal.

But over time my perspective shifted. I realized being big and strong wasn’t the same as being healthy. My blood pressure wasn’t where I wanted it to be. My resting heart rate was high. I could lift heavy, but I didn’t feel like I could move well or go the distance if I needed to.

So I made a change. I shifted my focus to cardiovascular endurance while still holding on to the muscle I worked hard for. And the results have been eye-opening. My health markers improved across the board blood pressure, resting heart rate, energy levels, recovery. I feel stronger in a new way not just in the weight room, but in life.

The program I created is built on this principle: do the minimum necessary to maintain muscle while developing endurance and improving overall health. It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing what matters most.

This client came to me a little over a year ago with one goal—build muscle while staying lean. Fast forward 15 months and he’s up 9lbs of solid muscle with an even leaner physique.

Got this message from a client a few days back:

"Had another physical today for work. Doc couldn't believe my LDL dropped from 130 to 98 and my HDL jumped from 47 to 58. I told him you better believe it, b**ch!"

He started with me October 30th at 223 lbs. Today, he is sitting at 188 lbs. and it's not just about the number on the scale. His health markers are drastically better, his energy is up, and his confidence is through the roof.
