Patricia “Patty” Lou Boyles, 72, of West Union, left her earthly body on Saturday, September 12, 2025, with her family by her side until the end. Patty was born on January 15, 1953, the precious daughter of Betty Ware, of Salem, and the late Robert “Bob” Ware.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, David “Doc” Boyles who kept Patty on her toes for many years.
She is survived by her son, Robert Michael Boyles; her oldest daughter, Amanda Rockwell and her husband Robbie; and her youngest daughter, Jana Boyles and her fiancé Les Corathers.
Patty was known as “Granny” to five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The name Granny was initially started as a joke, but later just sort of stuck. Her grandchildren would affectionately call her home at Crystal Lake “Camp Grannies”.
Patty’s first grandchild is Audrey Lawson and her husband Jordan, followed by Allison Rockwell, Dakota Ashcraft, Aundrea Rockwell, and Cameron Powell; and two great-grandchildren, Nora and Layna. Patty is also survived by her siblings, James Ware, Connie Blake and her husband Albert, Penny Price and her husband Patrick; brothers-in-law, Paul Boyles and his wife, Paula Boyles; and Jack Darway and his wife Joyce. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Debra Darway. All of Patty’s siblings hold a lifetime of precious memories.
Patty shared a home with her long-time companion, Frank Cosner. She also had a large extended family with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Patty was a majorette for Salem High School, where she was a showstopper with her long legs. She later graduated nursing school in 1985 and had a long career in nursing, touching the lives of many. Patty was a great coworker to have, dependable and easy to get along with. Patty could easily make you laugh without trying. When Patty wasn’t working, she enjoyed beach vacations with her family, gardening, reading, and decorating her beautiful home, for which she took great pride in. Patty was the heart of her family, and she loved hosting large family gatherings for the holidays and preparing delicious meals for everyone to enjoy.
Patty fought a long, hard battle with cancer, yet even on her hardest days her biggest concerns were how this was affecting her children and grandchildren.
A caregiver for a lifetime, the uniform may rest but the calling never ends.
A special thanks to Dr. Osman at UHC, affectionately known as “Dr. Sunshine” by her daughters for giving hope when hope was lost, and all of the caring staff at UHC and Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Ann Votaw, 74, of Bridgeport, passed away at Harmony at White Oaks on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with her family and friends continuously by her side.
Ann was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 6, 1951, the only daughter of the late Kenneth Dawson Bradley and Bess Jean (Shipley) Bradley. Ann attended Murray State University where she met her husband of 52 years, Jeff, whom she married on August 5, 1972. Jeff preceded her in death on December 1, 2024.
She and Jeff moved to West Virginia in the mid-70s. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Beth and Bradley, around which her entire world revolved. She never missed a cheerleading competition or golf tournament and was frequently the chauffeur for her children’s teammates.
Ann was a hard worker, which she learned growing up on the family farm. She worked for many years at Lincoln High School whose students constantly stopped her at her grandchildren’s sporting events or at various events in the community to thank her for her guidance during their high school years or share a fond story.
In later years, Ann and her husband, Jeff, spent winters in Naples, FL accompanied by their dear friends, Mickey and Debbie, and Joe and Jolane, going to happy hours, playing cards, attending major league baseball spring training, and relaxing on the beach.
Ann’s favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren excel in sports, attending the majority of her grandsons, Zach and Luke’s, football, basketball, and baseball games, and her granddaughter, Presley’s soccer matches.
Left to cherish Ann’s memories are her daughter, Beth Rohrig and her husband Nate, and their children, Zachary and Lucas Rohrig; her son, Bradley Votaw and his wife Desirea, and their children Presley Ann Votaw and Arkadi Bowles and their dog, Sam; and innumerable friends. She is also survived by her brothers, Steve Bradley; and Mark Bradley and his wife Cindy.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kent Bradley of Santa Rosa, CA.

08/27/2025

Michael “Mike” Farrell, 64, of Bridgeport, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in Morgantown on August 23, 2025, just one day before his 65th birthday. Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, on August 24, 1960, Michael lived a life full of passion, freedom, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

A devoted NASCAR fan, Michael found joy in cheering on his favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He had a lifelong love for motorcycles and the great outdoors, especially the simple pleasures of being outside with his dog, Mia.

Above all, Michael carried a quiet but enduring love for his family. He was a father to Nicole Cline (husband Micheal) and Lisa Farrell (partner Brian Bennett), and a grandfather to Camden, JayLynn, and Kaleb. Though life’s paths sometimes led in different directions, his daughters and grandchildren were always close to his heart. He took pride in who they were becoming and held onto the love they shared in his own way.

One of the memories that best captures Michael’s spirit was swimming with his daughters at Belton Lake, the sun warm on his face and the best of his soul reflected in his eyes. In those moments, surrounded by laughter and water, he was at peace—present, joyful, and deeply connected to the ones he loved.

Michael is also survived by his mother, Mary Snyder of Bridgeport, WV; his brothers Doug Farrell (Ruth) of Weston, WV, and Kenny Farrell; and his nephews Michael Farrell and RD Farrell, to whom he was a proud and caring uncle. He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey Farrell Jr., his brother, David Farrell, his stepfather Vance Snyder, and his grandparents, George and Sylvia Clark. His bond with his family was deep and enduring—he carried their stories, their laughter, and their love with him every day.
“Go rest high on that mountain,
Son, your work on earth is done.
Go to heaven a-shoutin’,
Love for the Father and the Son.”
— Vince Gill, “Go Rest High on That Mountain”

With love from the family:
We will remember Michael for his quiet strength, his love of the open road, and the moments—big and small—that made him uniquely ours. Though he’s no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the stories we share, the laughter we carry, and the love that will never fade. We are grateful for the support, kindness, and prayers from all who have reached out during this time.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Michael’s life and legacy.
