Join us in supporting a local hero and raising awareness!

This October, the Bridgeton Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 4822 is proud to announce a heartfelt initiative. We will be selling breast cancer awareness t-shirts, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting the family of a beloved hometown hero, Chad Ott.

For nearly 30 years, Chad has selflessly served the community of Upper Deerfield Township in the emergency medical field, earning recognition as the compassionate and dedicated EMS Chief of Upper Deerfield Emergency Medical Services. Standing by his side for the last 18 years is his incredible wife, Michelle. She is Chad's unwavering supporter and the heart of their family. Michelle is the steady anchor at home, caring for their family while Chad is out caring for others.

Now, Michelle is facing her own battle with breast cancer, and it's our time to rally behind her. These t-shirts represent more than just a piece of clothing. They symbolize our gratitude for all that Chad and Michelle have given to their community. This is a way for us to give back to a family who has given so much and always puts others first.

We have Michelle's back, and we invite you to stand with us.

T-shirts will be available to purchase at our firehouse, located at 1 Orange Street, Bridgeton, NJ 08302, on Monday, October 6th, 2025, for $20. Please see any union member to get your t-shirt and show your support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your kindness and support during this important time. Together, we can make a difference!

On behalf of the Bridgeton Professional Firefighters we send our deepest condolences to Captain Fortuna’s family and his colleagues from Stockton Firefighters Local 456

On behalf of the Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey we send our deepest condolences to Captain Fortuna’s family and his colleagues from Stockton Firefighters Local 456.

“This morning at approximately 4:45 a.m. the Stockton Fire Department’s Emergency Communications Division received a 911 call for a dumpster fire in the area of Washington and Aurora Streets. Engine 2 arrived on the scene a short time later and found a dumpster fire impinging on a structure. As firefighters were extinguishing the fire, gunshots were heard, and the Fire Captain of Engine 2 had been struck. Firefighters quickly transitioned to providing EMS care and transported him to the hospital.

Captain Fortuna served the City of Stockton for 21 years and leaves behind a wife and two grown children. I ask you to keep Captain Fortuna’s family and the Stockton Fire Department family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
