The great thing about a community like ours is that you get to share your stories. Easter is the perfect time for our resident, Gerry Gronsky, to display her collection of Pysanky Eggs. This ancient Ukrainian art form starts with making a hole on each end of an egg shell, blowing the egg out, and covering the shell in beeswax, dyes, and varnish, as well as hand painting patterns and designs.

All of Gerry’s eggs were made by her mother-in-law, Gulia Gronsky. She made them as gifts for family, friends, and for fundraisers at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Carnegie. Although Gulia has been gone for many years, she left so much of herself behind in these beautiful treasures.
