Wrestling doesn’t ease you into action. It demands explosive movement, awkward positions, and sudden force from the first whistle.

In collaboration with the National Wrestling Coaches Association, Mike Santamaria, PT, DPT, breaks down how wrestlers should properly warm up to prepare for the intensity of the mat.

A purposeful warm-up activates the right muscles, improves control in unpredictable positions, and gets your body ready to handle force safely and effectively.

Don’t step on the mat unprepared. Watch the full video to learn how to warm up the right way.

Every comeback starts somewhere.

For Brennan Sprague of Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island, the journey didn’t begin with a state title, it began with a setback.

After not starting wrestling until his freshman year, Brennan suffered a neck injury during his sophomore season that could have been career-ending.

Instead of walking away, he committed to his recovery. He chose to complete his rehabilitation at JAG Physical Therapy, putting in the work day after day to come back stronger, physically and mentally.

That commitment paid off. Brennan returned to the mat and went on to win a New York State Championship.

We’re proud of Brennan’s resilience and grateful our team could play a role in his comeback. Because behind every return to play is a plan, a team, and a belief that stronger is possible.

If you’re facing an injury, your comeback can start here, at JAG Physical Therapy.

Weight management is one of the biggest risk factors in wrestling, and it’s often misunderstood.

In collaboration with the National Wrestling Coaches Association, we’re addressing what safe, responsible weight management should actually look like for wrestlers.

In this video, Michael Santamaria, PT, DPT, breaks down why drastic cuts, dehydration, and last-minute weight drops can hurt performance and increase injury risk, and what healthier, smarter preparation really involves.

Success on the mat shouldn’t come at the expense of long-term health.

Watch to learn how to approach weight management the right way.

National Athletic Training Month is here, let’s celebrate the professionals who get us patched up and back in the game.

Athletic trainers are often the first on the field and the last to leave. They assess, treat, tape, stabilize, support, and advocate, all while keeping athletes safe and competition-ready.

From prevention to recovery, their impact goes far beyond the sidelines.

This month, we recognize the dedication, expertise, and commitment of athletic trainers everywhere. Thank you for keeping athletes moving and teams strong.

Strong shoulders win scrambles. Stable shoulders keep your wrestlers in the season.

We teamed up with the National Wrestling Coaches Association to break down what real shoulder stability looks like for wrestlers, not just lifting heavy, but controlling unstable positions when it actually matters.

Dan Kane, PT, DPT, walks through the kind of training coaches can implement that translates to the mat: better control, smarter strength, fewer setbacks.

Because wrestling isn’t just about being strong. It’s about being strong when you’re off-balance, under pressure, and fighting for position.

Coaches, train your athletes smarter. Keep them ready.
