When you’ve got TWO doctors in surgery, you know it’s either very serious… or someone’s getting judged on their suture technique 😄👀

Dr. Feeney had some “extra supervision” today while performing a routine spay, thanks to Dr. Ting (board-certified surgeon mode: activated). Don’t worry—no pressure at all, just a casual expert watching your every move 😂

All jokes aside, Dr. Ting was actually here for something much more important 💛

Sweet Isabella, a former shelter kitty, needed a diaphragmatic hernia repair—a condition where there’s a tear in the diaphragm (the muscle that separates the chest and abdomen), allowing organs like the liver or intestines to move into the chest cavity. This can make it hard for cats to breathe and function normally, and it often requires surgical correction to fix.

We’re so happy to share that Isabella’s procedure went extremely well 🙌 She’s recovering beautifully and is already almost back to her normal self—one step closer to finding her forever home 🏡🐾

Huge thank you to Dr. Ting for bringing your expertise and helping give Isabella the second chance she deserves 💕

Preventative Senior Bloodwork

Your senior pet looks healthy, but despite their familiar tail wag and happy-go-lucky nature, they could be suffering from a hidden illness.

Age-related health changes are rarely noticeable until pets are severely affected. By then, treatment is often less successful—or unavailable.

Preventive senior pet blood work can pinpoint concerning changes sooner, giving your veterinarian more time to intervene—and giving you and your pet more time together.

It’s time for the truth about your senior pet’s health. Ask for blood work at their next visit!

🌡️🐾 Warm Weather Alert for Pet Owners! 🐾🌡️

With temperatures rising this week, it’s important to take extra precautions to keep your furry family members safe and comfortable.

Here are a few key tips to protect your pets in warmer weather:

☀️ Keep pets indoors during peak heat (typically 10 AM – 4 PM). Even short periods outside can lead to overheating.
💧 Provide constant access to fresh, cool water to prevent dehydration.
🌳 Ensure shaded areas if your pet must be outside—but remember, shade doesn’t eliminate heat risk.
🚗 Never leave pets in parked cars—temperatures can become deadly within minutes, even with windows cracked.
🐕 Limit exercise to early morning or evening walks when pavement and air temperatures are cooler.
🔥 Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, lethargy, or collapse.

If you suspect your pet is overheating, move them to a cool area immediately, offer water, and contact your veterinarian right away.

Your pet depends on you to stay safe—let’s keep them cool, happy, and healthy this week! 💙🐶🐱

Dr. Feeney had some extra help at the office today 🐾

Stewart took his job very seriously—handling medical records and keeping up with the phones like a true professional. He’s also recovering well after his neuter procedure and already eager to get back to work. 💙Meanwhile, Tyrion focused on the important work of accepting pets and supervising the entire operation (with great authority, of course).

Safe to say, productivity levels have never been higher… or fluffier. 😸

Pet Allergen Info

Allergies are frustrating for you and your pet. Common allergies include:

Environmental allergies: Pollen, grasses, and mold can irritate a pet’s skin and respiratory tract.

Flea allergies (Flea allergy dermatitis): Some pets are sensitive to a protein in flea saliva. One bite is all it takes to trigger intense itching and irritation.

Atopic dermatitis (atopy): Chronic skin condition triggered by environmental allergens, setting off an intense cycle of itching, chewing, licking, and inflammation.
Food allergies: Although uncommon, some pets may be allergic to specific proteins or food ingredients.

Fortunately, we have effective solutions to identify the cause, address your pet’s discomfort, and minimize future irritation. Get ahead of allergies this season by scheduling your pet’s appointment today.

Our Story

Bridgewater Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in 1993. Since that time our goal has been to offer you and your pet the best medical care possible. We also strive to educate you on pet nutrition, flea and tick control, dental care, behavior modification and more. We feel so strongly about your pets, that we offer prospective owners a complimentary consultation and scheduled tour of the hospital facility to further educate them on the responsibilities of pet ownership. At BVH, we try our best to emphasize owner participation in all aspects of a pet's care. We work hard to build your trust in us. We want you to know that your pet is receiving loving, quality care. After all, we're all pet owners too. We care about your pets as much as we care about our own. It is our pleasure to welcome you, your family and your special pet to BVH.
