I cannot believe this sweet boy is one today!! What absolute pleasure and honor to have travelled to Ca last summer to support some of my longest friends to welcome their third baby into the world. This boy taught me that 3rd kiddos are wild cards for sure 🤣 he also still holds the record of the biggest baby I’ve seen born!

Thankful and blessed as I reminisce on how strong and determined Becca was during the whole process and we evaluated every option before allowing any interventions take place that were needed. She is a strong mama and I’m thankful to have her as a dear friend in my life 💕

I still can’t believe this birth was a little over a year ago 🥹

This was my second official client, and Kylee was a rock star! She handled every contraction with such calmness and restraint you wouldn’t have been able to tell she was 8cm when we got to the hospital!

If we didn’t run into so many hiccups in this birth I know she could’ve done it all naturally! Either way it was a privilege and honor to serve this beautiful family and welcome their son, Crew, into the world 💕

Birth is such a beautiful thing, but sometimes it’s hard and difficult and things happen that we quite don’t understand and things go a direction we never want them to go. But what I’ve learned this past week is my God is bigger and He is present, even in the difficult circumstances.

Sometimes I wonder why God called me to doula work, when he knows I am so affected by emotions, but God truly showed me that this was His calling on my life and even though there are times I fe like I want to give up, he picks me back up and carries me onward. Oh I’m His strength can I accomplish what I do. To Him I give the glory.
Psalm 34:18 (NLT): The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Just a little reminder for those mamas who need a bit of encouragement ❤️

I love this quote so much that I have this as one of my birth shirts. It’s so true, birth is one of the hardest things a mama endures, but God made us strong, made our bodies strong and designed them specifically for birth.

Tuck this away and save this post as an affirmation for your upcoming birth ❤️ you got this mamas!!

Today marks one year since I completed my doula training. What a whirlwind of a year!!

Since September, I’ve attended 9 births, and have grown so much in my confidence as a doula. The beginning was TERRIFYING, I remember crying in the car praying because I was so nervous the first time! But each time after that, I got a little more brave and confident.

Now I don’t even think about it. I know the Lord is there to give me my strength and ability, he hasn’t abandoned me yet and he has called me to this work so why should I doubt him now?

If you’ve been blessed by me being at your birth, I want you to know that I’ve been blessed in given the opportunity to support you and your family.

I can’t wait to see what this next year holds ❤️

✨The Squat Bar✨

This is one of my favorite tools to use, especially with my epidural mamas!

This bar is very versatile and can be used in both active labor/transition and the pushing stage.

Benefits for labor:
+helps body sit in an upright position to allow gravity to help with baby descending
+puts mama in a new position and allows her to rest on it
+assists in supporting mama in a squatting position

Benefits for pushing:
+foot rest for mama
+allows mama to use the “tug of war” method to help with pushing.
+gives mama the option to push in a squatting position if that is her preference

In December, I attended another sweet birth, my first client, Michelle and Austin!

This mama did so well with persevering through every whirlwind we faced that day and put up with me changing her position every 20 min with her epidural 😅

Michelle picked an amazing support team surround her as she brought baby Colton into the world and I’m so grateful I was a part of it!

Congrats to this sweet family.

I’m so very excited to share with you guys that I attended my very first solo birth a little over a month ago ❤️

Kelly and John were amazing in fighting for the birth experience that they wanted, so much so that they changed hospitals last minute! Because of this determination in standing their ground, they were able to have a beautiful VBAC😍

One thing I learned from this experience is this: It’s never too late to change providers. If you are not comfortable with one or you really want to make sure you get all your options for what YOU want for your birth, you have every right to leave your current hospital and go to another.

I’m so incredibly proud of Kelly and John and also so incredibly thankful that they allowed me to be a part of their birthing journey. Thank you for letting me share this experience with you guys ❤️
