🩺 New Research Spotlight: HBOT & Cancer Care 🩺
At The Livingston Clinic, we're always looking for ways to support healing, restore quality of life, and complement existing cancer treatments. A recent article from National Hyperbaric shows promising evidence for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) used alongside traditional cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.
Here are some of the highlights:
Cancer cells often thrive in low‐oxygen (hypoxic) environments. Increasing oxygen through HBOT may help hinder tumor growth and make standard treatments (chemo/radiation) more effective.
In mice studies (ovarian tumors), HBOT plus chemotherapy significantly reduced tumor volume compared to chemotherapy alone.
For aggressive brain cancers (e.g. glioblastoma), combining HBOT with conventional therapy showed improvements in prognosis.
HBOT is also helpful in treating side effects and complications of cancer treatment: radiation necrosis, fatigue, mucositis, esophagitis, cognitive challenges (“chemo brain”), and more.
🔍 What This Means for Patients
HBOT is not a replacement for standard cancer treatments, but it may be a powerful adjunct, helping to improve treatment outcomes, reduce side effects, and enhance quality of life.
If you or a loved one are wondering whether HBOT might be a beneficial addition to your treatment plan, reach out. At The Livingston Clinic, we can help explore if this is right for you in collaboration with your oncology team.
