Friendly Senior Living is a continuum of caring communities including Cloverwood Senior Living and G

In 1849, a group of benevolent women formed the "Rochester Society for the Relief of Friendless and Homeless Females." As the Society grew, an old tavern was purchased on the corner of East Avenue and Alexander Street in downtown Rochester for its new location. The Society was then incorporated under the name "The Rochester Home for the Friendless." As the mission of the organization evolved and the need for services increased, the Home moved to its current location at 3156 East Avenue in Brighton, and became known as "The Rochester Friendly Home." Later, the name changed to simply "The Friendly Home," as it is known today. Although our name has changed over the years, the sentiments and philosophy that first inspired the original Society have remained constant. From an organization that sheltered homeless women to an organization that is committed to providing a continuum of care to older adults, The Friendly Home has always been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those we serve

Another gorgeous day for another neighborhood annual picnic! The slightly cooler weather made for an awesome picnic at the Friendly Home! Members and families were all smiles and enjoyed a fabulous, delicious picnic meal and great conversation! It just doesn't get any better than that!

Our Members at the Friendly Home had so much fun recently doing one of their favorite creative events, "Painting with Stacy". Lighthouses were the theme and as you can see by the smiles on their faces, (and the thumbs up!), it was a joyous day! 🎨👩‍🎨👩🏿‍🎨👨‍🎨🖌

We were thrilled to host a recent seminar at our newest location, Lily Brook Senior Independent Living, in Pittsford. The topic was "Downsizing" and was presented by Caring Transitions- . Caring Transitions is a tremendous resource for relocation, downsizing, and a host of other support services, serving Monroe, Ontario and Wayne counties. The seminar was very well attended!

We love our animal friends here at the Friendly Home! They bring so much happiness and cheer, contentment and peace, laughter and love. Whether it's listening to our brightly-colored birds sing a beautiful song from our Aviary, our lively fish swimming lazily along in our aquariums or our mascot, "Meatball" the bunny, munching away at a treat, we are reminded of the true beauty and gifts of nature and are thankful! 🐦🐠🐇

Back to school and backpacks were the order of the day recently at Cloverwood Senior Living! All participants had a fabulous, fun-filled day that included creating backpacks filled to the brim with much-needed school supplies that will go to support children at School #45 in Rochester! A special luncheon was also enjoyed by resident participants! Winston Churchill said it best: "We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give." 🎒✏️🏫

Our Members were given a very special treat last evening when the Pittsford Volunteer Fire Department Band put on quite a show in the Friendly Home courtyard! The band, since its inception in 1946, has been providing festive, cheerful entertainment and bringing joy to everyone who attends! The band has received the prestigious title of "New York State Fire Department Band Champions" seven times! CONGRATULATIONS! 🥁🎺🎶

It was "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" (or at least football training camp practice!) for some of our lucky Glenmere residents yesterday! What a treat to get an up close and personal glimpse of the Buffalo Bills in action! Thanks to a special sponsorship by , residents were able to enjoy a beautiful day at and get a first-hand look at what the upcoming season may bring for Buffalo Bills fans! How exciting! 🏈🏈🏈

Our current exhibit runs through September, is open to the public free of charge, and price lists are available for those interested in purchasing these amazing works! What a GRAND day yesterday as we celebrated our newest senior independent living location (Lily Brook) with a grand opening ceremony! Friendly Senior Living is incredibly honored to have such a close and meaningful partnership with the Sisters of St. Joseph, and we sincerely thank everyone involved in making Lily Brook such a huge success!
