Zit, wrinkles, post run funk and my training partner.
This is real life and I don’t filter this 💩 out.

As an athlete most of my life - I’ve enjoyed having something to aim for. Now that I’m more seasoned, I can take aim towards my target goal and stay flexible. The young and dumb version of me would put blinders on and block out life to get it done at any cost. Now, I ebb and flow with all of life’s challenges and blessings.

I wanna know that I can do what I set out to do, while enjoying my marriage, entrepreneurship, traveling, parenting, house holding, and other interests. It’s not either/or. Flexibility, Flow, Receptivity, Adaptability are my superpowers.

On the eve of my 43rd lap around the sun, I am putting on my calendar to achieve something difficult for me by my 45th birthday.

I hope you stick around and enjoy the ride as I share my journey.

WHEN MY CLIENTS ARE FED UP- HOW DO I RESTORE THEIR HOPE?

For most of my clients, it’s not their first “rodeo” with health and wellness.

They’ve been there, done that, and they’re fed up. I too know that feeling of desperation.

They just want to lose the weight, stop the binge eating, and put an end to feeling out of control with food … so they can move on with their lives.
They just want to effing lose the weight and be done with it already.

Nothing they’ve tried has worked long-term. So, this question is lingering in the back of nearly every client’s mind:

Why should it be any different working with me?

— And here’s the thing: I can feel my client’s doubt, which can seriously undermine our work.

So, how do I establish hope and trust with my clients? How do I get them to believe in themselves, have hope in a vision of their future self and take part in their lives again?

I’ve learned (the hard way) that people don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.

I genuinely care about the people that find their way to me and I don’t give up. Yep, I have all the certifications and degree, I have a crap ton of first hand experience and 20 yrs of clinical experience. But in the end, that 💩 doesn’t matter.

I’m honest. Loyal. Willing to have hard conversations in a compassionate manner. I hold a vision of your health and vitality when yours wains. I trust in the process. I’m willing to do whatever it takes.

I can’t promise you that you’ll lose that magical number of pounds, or ditch the pain for good, or never have an emotional temptation again. I’m not God/Source/Creator/Universe (whatever you align with).

But what I can promise you is, in my presence, you will feel what unconditional love and care feels like; you’ll feel a sense of calm, peace, self-acceptance, self-compassion & non-judgement. And I’ve seen people move mountains when they feel, know, & allow themselves to receive that kind of love.

10 things you may not know about me:

1. I am the youngest of 5. And my siblings first names and I all start with the letter T.

2. I was a 9 Varsity Letter Athlete in High School, playing basketball, volleyball and softball.

3. I was a tomboy as a kid. Raised on a farm, played with frogs, rode my bike down to the creek and stayed there for hours.

4. I am like a crab. I have a tough exterior to protect my vulnerabilities. But once you get to know me, there’s not a more loyal and honest, trustworthy person in your corner.

5. I have been married to my husband, Matt, for 9 years on May 15th (together 17) - we have 1 amazing kiddo, Olivia, whom just turned 5 in April.

6. I spent 3 years in Pharmacy School - only to realize a higher calling to be of greater service.

7. I have two dogs, Luna (8) and Hazel. They are both Boxers!

8. I have been an entrepreneur for 18 years 😮‍💨

9. My career/vocation/calling found me - through my own diagnosis’s and health conditions. It’s through my health crisis that I wanted to be professionally trained to help others navigate PCOS, Thyroid issues and infertility.

10. When I am not coaching or doing massages, you can find my nose buried in a book (non-fiction) or being outdoors hiking, walking, gardening etc.

Let’s get a few things straight ✋🏼

Motivation is like a damn matchstick - burns hot for a sec, then fizzles out. Motivation is a fast twitch muscle. It’s not made for endurance. When people reply on motivation alone to carry them across the finish line, we will fall short.

Can’t always count on it to light my fire.
I was not motivated to train this morning. Why?
The kid and the dog woke me up 3x last night with the storm and the level of sass coming out of my 5yo is testing my patience.

So yeah, I don’t feel like it sometimes. I’m human.
This is why we have to develop other ‘skills’ or ‘muscles’ to use when motivation fizzles.

So what helped me get my butt to the gym when the babysitter showed up at 8am?
Two things:

☄️I know that through having discipline to develop my craft - that the first 5 minutes of a thing is the hardest. If I could drive to the gym and just do 5 minutes- that would carry momentum. I know that I would feel better moving my body in a way that makes me feel strong and vibrant.

☄️I am committed to my vision of creating the version of me that I’ll be proud of when I’m 80; with style, fun, pleasure, grace and beauty.

What holds you accountable when motivation wanes?
What inspires you to stay committed to the health you desire to create?
What hold you back?
What doesn’t work at staying committed?

I have a lot of answers to those questions based upon my own experience and from the 1,000 of data points is have from clients.

I bet a lot has to do with stress, perfectionist tendencies, and hyper vigilance/over-functioning.

Arguing about diets on Instagram is a lot like arguing and trolling political posts on Facebook..

Instead of further complicating the state of the diet culture here are my ten favorite toggles for actually making progress toward any physical goal you may have.

1. Sleep.
2. Non-exercise activity / movement.
3. Stress Management.
4. Energy Balance
5. Gut Health
6. Hydration.
7. Food Timing.
8. Food Group/Type Elimination or Supplementation.
9. Exercise Activity.
10. Relationships & Community- which includes your relationship with nature and time outside.

Which toggle(s) do you do well with?
Which toggles do you find more challenging?
Now, the key is to not try to do all of them at once.

Do you know where to start?
It may be a good idea to have a 3rd party/Objective perspective because we all have blind spots (yes, even me).

YOUR BODY IS NOT A BATTLEFIELD 🫣

Many of the women that find their way to me have battled their weight, if not for most of their adult life, at least for the last 10 years.

Many have gained and lost the same 50lbs over and over. Why?

Because most d!ets fail most of the time. And NOT because the women are ‘broken’ or because something is wrong with them (that the d!et and we!ght loss industry sells them into believing)… its because all they are doing is focusing on the outcome (losing we!ght) and not the behavioral changes that are necessary for long term health of keeping it off.

So, women’s relationship to their body, and unfortunately food, has become a war.

Ditch the hamster wheel - of chasing after your worthiness through the size of your body. And let’s begin healing and befriending it. Shall we?
