Pielhop Funeral Homes

Pielhop Funeral Homes Two locally owned funeral homes in Brillion & Reedsville. Luecker Funeral Home was built in 1938 in Brillion. Luecker retired. Wieting, Sr. In 1956, Merlin Sr.

For 18 years, the Luecker Family served the community until Fred L. The Wieting Funeral Home legacy began in 1953 when Merlin A. and Harvey Techman began operating the Techman-Wieting Funeral Home in Hilbert. and Evelyn Wieting moved to Brillion and purchased the Luecker Funeral Home and Furniture Store from the Luecker Family, starting the original Wieting Funeral Home. In 1968, a building expansion project began, encompassing the Luecker Chapel built in 1938, to the funeral home it is today. In 1972, Wieting Funeral Home became Wieting Funeral Home, Inc. when Merlin "Fuzzy" Wieting, Jr. joined the family business. In 1985, the Reedsville Co-op Funeral Home was purchased by the Wieting's. Previously, the Co-op Funeral Home was opened in 1939. In 1945, the Cooperative bought Shimon Funeral Home and retained Edward Shimon as their funeral director. The funeral home building was retained until 1959 when the Co-op built the new funeral home on the same location as the previous building. In 1994, Merlin Sr. passed away. This lead to the corporation known as Wieting Funeral Home, Incorporated to be restructured into two separate corporations; Wieting Funeral Homes, Inc., owned by Merlin “Fuzzy” Wieting, Jr. and Wieting Funeral Home of Chilton. This now meant that in 1995, Fuzzy Wieting solely owned and operated both the Brillion and Reedsville funeral homes. In September of 2020, Jason & Sarah Pielhop purchased Wieting Funeral Home, Inc., its' assets and the properties from Fuzzy and Kathy Wieting. They will continue the legacy of care, compassion and support that the Wieting’s have shown for many decades to the communities as Pielhop Funeral Homes in Brillion and Reedsville and throughout Northeast, WI. When you choose Pielhop Funeral Homes, you are choosing 9 decades of locally owned and family owned funeral service.

Why do funeral homes need plow trucks?

Because we never know when we are going to be needed, and we have to be available.

Why do we love living where we do?

Because our neighbors are awesome!

Here’s a video of Jason working hard, and then Wes Kempen of Kempen Excavating shows up! Thanks Alicia for the share!

Oh, and don’t worry about our piles of snow in our parking lot for Thursday’s funeral. Wes will make sure we are all set by taking those away in the next couple of days. Thank you Wes!

We have some very exciting news! Abigail “Abbi” Kuether has joined our funeral homes as a full-time Funeral Director!

Abigail "Abbi" Kuether was born and raised in Kiel, graduating from Kiel High School. Abbi and her husband Bryan were married in 2007. They have built their life together in the Kiel area, moving out into Manitowoc County in 2021. They have two children together that are active in sports and activities. When they aren't supporting their kids at events, they can be found doing activities outside together as a family, remodeling their old farmhouse, landscaping, having campfires, gardening, hiking, sports, or just relaxing.

Abbi went on to further her education at Milwaukee Area Technical College, graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science in 2009. She actually started working with Sarah in 2008 over in Manitowoc for her funeral director apprenticeship at Pfeffer Funeral Home when Sarah worked there. Abbi passed her boards and became a licensed Funeral Director, and she worked in Manitowoc until 2014 when an opportunity for her to return to her hometown became available.

Abbi worked as a Licensed Funeral Director in Kiel until early 2024. She then took a step back for a time. But she couldn’t stay away. Abbi started working full-time with us in January of 2026.

Abbi believes being a funeral director is a rewarding and helpful profession. She enjoys listening to the stories being told by the families she serves. These families have taught her so much about life and have influenced her in more ways than they will ever know.

We are very excited to have her join us!

Evelyn Wieting Evie, as everyone around here knew her as, was the start of Wieting Funeral Homes, Inc. with her husband Merlin. Evie was a teacher before she married Merlin. She met Merlin when he came to her classroom as Santa. The rest was history. Evie was the bookkeeper, answered the phones for both the funeral home and the ambulance service, helped run the furniture store, and had four children with Merlin. She retired, but you always found her near the funeral home. Evie passed away and joined her husband Merlin for a Christmas dance in Heaven on December 20, 2014.
