Bristol County Eye Care is growing and looking for a new member for our team!
Part time opportunity for an Optical Assistant in a Medical Center setting in Bristol, Rhode Island 16-32 hours per week.
The Optical Assistant will be helping the doctors with pretesting and assisting the patients selecting eyewear. Individuals should be energetic, detail oriented and enjoy helping people. Experience is preferred but will train the right person.
* A SIGN ON BONUS IS CURRENTLY BEING OFFERED *
The Position Involves:
-Greeting patients and assisting doctors in examining patients
-Measuring vision, performing pre testing and diagnostic tests
-Training new patients to handle and care for their contact lenses
-Helping people select and measuring for glasses

A 90% solar eclipse is predicted for Bristol, RI on April 8, 2024 starting at 2:15pm and ending around 4:30pm.

What does this mean for your eyes?
Simply, do not look directly at the eclipse without approved solar eclipse glasses. They need to meet the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2 which should be printed directly on the glasses themselves.

Dr. Carl Sakovits of Bristol County Eye Care recently returned from Churuquita, Panama where he lead the 33rd mission of 61 medical volunteers. The team provided eye care and glasses, dental care, audiology and hearing aids, and general medical care for almost 3,000 needy Panamanians. “After a four year pause in our missionary work due to COVID, it was so good to get back to the work we love so much”, says Dr. Sakovits.

The group will be returning to Panama again in January 2025 and is in need of donated used eyewear in good condition. Glasses can be dropped off anytime year round at our office located within the Bristol County Medical Center.
