Move a little, stress less!

Every day our DSPs and Support Coordinators see how even small moments of movement can bring big moments of peace to the adults with disabilities we support. A gentle stretch, practicing SHRI yoga in Pawtucket, a dance to a favorite song—each one helps melt away the stress of the day and brings more calm, joy, and confidence.

Facts you can relax about:

- The American Psychological Association notes that physical activity helps reduce stress by lowering the body’s stress hormones, like cortisol and adrenaline, while boosting feel-good endorphins.

- Research from the Mayo Clinic shows that even 10 minutes of movement can lift mood and reduce tension and stress.

- Studies consistently show that regular physical activity supports better sleep, clearer thinking, and improved emotional resilience—key parts of managing stress.

For our community members, movement is a pathway to emotional well-being. It’s a chance to breathe, reset, and feel supported from the inside out. And these peaceful, joy-filled moments happen more frequently because of you and your financial support.

This , your generosity will help us continue offering adaptive fitness, calming movement sessions, and supportive spaces where adults with disabilities can experience stress relief and emotional wellness.

Help us create more calm, joy, and movement-filled moments. Your donation on Tuesday, December 2nd will lift spirits—and changes lives.

Movement today, disease prevention tomorrow!

LIFE believes every step, stretch, and joyful moment of movement is an investment in a brighter and healthier future for the adults with disabilities we serve. And part of that healthier future focuses on disease prevention whenever and wherever possible.

And the science is with us hand-in-hand (freshly washed germ-free hands, of course!):

- According to the CDC, regular physical activity can significantly reduce the risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers.

- Even 150 minutes a week—that’s just a little each day—has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, strengthen the immune system, and support healthy aging.

- The World Health Organization notes that physical inactivity is one of the leading risk factors for major diseases—yet it’s one of the most preventable.

Movement 👏🏻 truly 👏🏻 matters 👏🏻.

For our participants, movement is not about perfection—it’s about discovering strength, supporting independence, and building lifelong habits that protect and directly impact physical and mental health. It’s about celebrating every small victory that leads to long-term wellness.

This , your monetary support helps us provide adaptive fitness programs, safe activity spaces, and joyful movement experiences that are vital for long-term disease prevention.

Help us keep our community moving—and thriving. Your donation on Tuesday, December 2nd creates healthier futures.

Move with purpose, thrive with heart. ❤️

LIFE believes movement is more than just motion—it’s a celebration (and preservation) of heart, strength, and vitality. For the adults with disabilities we serve, every stretch, step, and beat counts.

Here’s the proof:

- The American Heart Association says that just 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity per week can reduce the risk of heart disease by up to 30%.

- Studies show that even light-intensity aerobic exercise (like walking, jumping at Launch Trampoline Park in Warwick, or adaptive cardio) improves heart function and circulation—helping maintain a healthy blood pressure and cholesterol level.

- Regular movement leads to better endurance, a stronger heart muscle, and a lower resting heart rate—which all means a healthier and happier heart.

For our participants, movement isn’t designed for elite athletes—it’s designed for belonging, strength, joy, and wellness. With each beat of the heart, we are reminding them: you matter. Your health matters. Your movement matters. ❤️

This , we’re inviting you to be the heartbeat behind our Movement Movement program. Your generosity helps us provide accessible cardio-friendly programs, inclusive fitness supports, and joy-filled activity options that keep hearts strong and communities vibrant.

We hope our campaign moves you to support our mission and vision helping our clients as best we can, day in and day out. Donate through our website on Tuesday, December 2nd to keep more hearts beating strong.

Movement makes mood magic happen!

At LIFE, we see every day how a simple moment of movement—whether it’s a walk, a stretch, a dance, or even a joyful wiggle—can brighten someone’s entire world.

And the science agrees! Research shows that even 10 minutes of physical activity can boost mood by increasing endorphins and reducing stress hormones. Studies from organizations like the American Psychological Association also note that regular movement can lower feelings of anxiety and improve overall emotional well-being.

For the adults with disabilities we support, movement isn’t just exercise. It’s confidence, it’s connection, it’s joy. And it's truly meaningful.

We’ve watched moods lift, smiles spread, and spirits soar when our participants move their bodies in ways that feel good to them. These moments of happiness are powerful—and they’re made possible because of supporters like you.

This , you can help create even more moments of improved mood by supporting our Movement Movement program with a monetary donation. Your generosity fuels movement opportunities that keep our community active, engaged, and smiling.

Move hearts. Lift spirits. Change lives. Donate to our Movement Movement campaign on Tuesday, December 2nd and be part of something truly meaningful.

CONGRATS ELLIE! Skills for Rhode Island's Future featured our own Ellie Ingraham for the great work she does as a Housekeeping Lobby Attendant for Hotel Viking in Newport! Everyone at LIFE Inc. has seen how hard and dedicated a worker Ellie is, so this spotlight comes as no surprise.

🌟 NDEAM Spotlight: Ellie I. 🌟

As part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Skills for Rhode Island's Future is proud to highlight Ellie I., a workABILITY candidate whose story reflects this year’s NDEAM theme—“Celebrating Value and Talent.”

Ellie joined the housekeeping department at Hotel Viking in Newport as a lobby attendant and quickly became a valued member of the team, known for her reliability, attention to detail, and upbeat attitude. She plans to return to her role when Hotel Viking reopens next spring following renovations.

Outside of work, Ellie volunteers with several community organizations, enjoys yoga and swimming, and proudly participates in the Special Olympics.

At workABILITY and Skills for Rhode Island’s Future, we’re honored to support Rhode Islanders whose dedication and talent strengthen workplaces and communities—during NDEAM and every month of the year.

This month, we celebrate the beauty of diversity and the incredible individuals with Down syndrome who inspire those around them with their joy, abilities, and uniqueness. 💙💛

Facts about Down syndrome:

🔹 Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21

🔹 It is the most common chromosomal condition, occurring in about 1 in every 700 babies born in the U.S.

🔹 People with Down syndrome have a wide range of abilities, talents, and personalities—just like everyone else

🔹 Early support and inclusion in education, healthcare, and community make a big difference in helping people thrive

🔹 Advocacy matters! Promoting awareness, acceptance, and inclusion helps create a world where everyone belongs

💛 Let’s use this month to learn, listen, and lift up voices from the Down syndrome community. Every person deserves to be celebrated for exactly who they are. 💙
