Stress shows up for all of us, but we can meet it with the tools and support that help us stay grounded. In April, try leaning into what strengthens you, check in with a friend, step outside for a reset, move your body, or permit yourself to rest. Building on what’s already strong in our lives helps us handle challenges in healthier ways. Small, supportive actions today can make a big difference over time. If stress is affecting your day-to-day life, don’t hesitate to reach out to a doctor or mental health provider. You deserve support! Spring Break: when teens suddenly think every hour is “nap on the beach” o’clock. 🏖😎 Instead of stressing over every sunscreen-less, sand-in-your snack moment, focus on what’s growing strong—confidence, curiosity, kindness. Teens who feel supported are way less likely to experiment with cannabis. So grab your shades, enjoy the waves, and keep cheering on their strengths. 🌊🌱💚

When your kid shows up in giant funny glasses, you remember that parenting is 50% guidance and 50% trying not to laugh. 🤓😂 But here’s the part that’s no prank: kids who feel seen for their strengths—their humor, creativity, kindness—are less likely to experiment with cannabis. Enjoy the silliness, celebrate what’s strong, and keep watering the good stuff. 🌱💚

…And that’s a wrap on DAT 2026: “Action Starts with You”! 🎬🍿🍬
Thank you to all of our youth groups and advisors that were able to join us this year!

The day started with a presentation by Tiffany Quarles, Alcohol Prevention Enhancement Specialist with the KY Prevention & Promotion Branch on Scenes and Screens: How Movies and TV Influence What Teens Think About Drinking.

The Zone Drop-in Center was able to provide a presentation and Q&A, followed by Mental Health Bingo before lunch with Graves County Health Department.

After lunch, we had silent disco and a movie script contest team building activity put on by Chandler and Gracey with the Pennyroyal Regional Prevention Center.

We ended the day with youth group report outs from Fulton Ind. BADD Club and Graves County ASAP’s Youth Council. Lastly, we ended with an action planning toolkit to bring back to their peers with some new ideas to implement.

Thanks to everyone who helped make today a success and to Graves County Cooperative Extension Service for allowing us to host here and our sponsors: Mercy Health - Lourdes Hospital, Marshall County ASAP, and Ballard County ASAP.

We hope to see everyone again in 2027!

***PADUCAH POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HOST DRUG TAKE-BACK EVENT***

The Paducah Police Department, DEA, and McCracken County ASAP (Agency for Substance Abuse Policy) will partner for the Spring 2026 National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which will be held on Saturday, April 25th, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. in the parking lot of the Purchase District Health Department, 916 Kentucky Avenue in Paducah. The event provides residents with a safe, anonymous way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.

During the event, officials will only accept pills and patches. Items such as liquids, needles, syringes, v**es, or inhalers will not be collected. The community can drive through, drop off their medications, and leave with no questions asked.

Medicines that remain in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion and misuse. Rates of prescription drug misuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. In Kentucky, the number of pediatric overdose and ingestion cases has increased by 104% over the last five years.

By participating in Take Back Day, the public can reduce the risk of misuse, theft, accidental ingestion, and diversion by removing potentially dangerous unneeded medications from homes. During the fall 2025 Take Back Day, Kentuckians turned in more than 11,300 pounds of unused medications.

The Paducah Police Department urges community members to bring their unused prescriptions to designated drop-off locations to help keep them out of circulation.
