Ever felt hit by a massive wave of emotion? That’s emotional flooding. 🌊

When it happens, your survival brain takes over and logic goes offline. The best move? The 20-minute rule.

Here’s the key step most people miss: Communicate first.

This communication can be to someone else or even just to yourself.

Tell them (or your brain): “I’m feeling flooded and need 20 minutes to reset.” If you're with someone, add: “I’ll be back to finish this then.”

This simple acknowledgement keeps the connection safe and gives your nervous system the green light to start calming down.

Then, go do something simple: walk, fold laundry, or just breathe. Give yourself time to find your way back to 'True North.'

You aren't broken. You just need tools. 🧭

Ever feel 'butterflies' in your stomach when you’re worried? 🦋 That’s not just a saying, it’s your gut and your brain having a conversation!

The gut-brain axis is a two-way street. Your gut actually produces a large portion of the chemicals (like serotonin) that help regulate your mood. When our gut health is supported, it can help lower the 'volume' on physical anxiety symptoms.

Tiny, sustainable tip: Try adding one fiber-rich food to your lunch today (think beans, berries, or greens). It feeds the good bacteria that help keep your nervous system steady.

It’s not about a perfect diet; it’s about supporting the system that supports you. 💙

Ever find yourself sitting on the couch after a long day, mindlessly scrolling through your phone, only to realize an hour has passed and you feel even more exhausted? I’ve been there too.

It feels like "checking out," but our brains don't actually see it as rest. Even if the content is lighthearted, scrolling adds to the "stimulation noise" that keeps us in a state of low-level burnout. Your brain is still processing images, text, and rapid changes: it’s not getting the break it deserves.

I like to suggest a "low-stim buffer" instead. This is a deliberate moment where you give your nervous system a chance to actually settle. It’s not about doing nothing; it’s about doing less.

Try this today:
🌿 Spend five minutes just staring at a plant or out a window.
🎶 Listen to one song without doing anything else.
☕️ Sit with your coffee and just notice the steam.

True rest happens when we turn down the volume of the world around us. If you’re feeling stuck in that cycle of constant noise and burnout, I’d love to help you find your way back to balance.

Feeling stuck in an anxiety loop? 🌀

When we’re overwhelmed, our brains often tell us: "If I can’t do a full 60-minute workout, why bother?"

Here’s the truth: Your nervous system doesn’t need a gym membership to find its way back to calm. It just needs a shift. Instead of "all or nothing," try a "movement snack":

✨ 5 minutes of stretching while the coffee brews.
✨ A quick walk to the mailbox.
✨ Shaking out your arms and legs for 60 seconds.

These tiny habits send a signal to your body that you’re safe and in control. Small habits yield large results when it comes to your mental well-being.

What’s one "movement snack" you can try today?

Ever feel like things are finally "too quiet" and it actually makes you anxious?

I call this the restlessness of recovery. When you’ve spent a long time in survival mode, your nervous system gets used to the high-stakes energy of chaos. So when life finally starts to settle down, peace can feel incredibly uncomfortable: almost like you're waiting for the other shoe to drop.

You might find yourself feeling guilty for resting or searching for a problem to solve just because the stillness feels foreign. I want you to know that this restlessness is actually a sign of progress. Your body is just learning how to exist without a crisis.

Healing isn’t just about getting through the hard stuff; it’s about learning how to be okay with the good stuff, too. If you’re feeling stuck in that "waiting" phase and want to find your way to a true, calm center, I’m here to help you navigate it.

The calendar says it’s nearly spring, but if you’re still feeling the weight of winter, I want you to know that’s okay.

March can be a strange, in-between time. There’s a lot of pressure to "spring forward" and suddenly have all this new energy just because the days are getting longer. But sometimes, our internal clocks don’t reset quite as fast as the one on the wall.

We sometimes put pressure on ourselves to match a certain season or pace. If you’re feeling a bit of a "March Slump": still wanting to retreat, still feeling a bit stuck, or just not ready to bloom yet: you aren’t doing anything wrong. Healing and growth don't always follow a linear timeline.

It’s okay to honor your own rhythm. You don’t have to force a fresh start before you’re ready. If you’re feeling stuck and need a little help finding your direction again, I’m here to help you navigate your way back to your "true north."

I've seen it so often in my time as a therapist: the 'all or nothing' trap. We tell ourselves that if we can’t spend a full hour at the gym or hit a personal record, it’s not worth doing at all.

But here’s what I’ve learned: that mindset actually keeps us stuck. It makes the 'perfect' the enemy of the 'good.'

When I’m feeling overwhelmed or stuck, I remind myself that small habits yield the largest results over time. You don’t need a fancy membership or a 60-minute block of time to care for your body. Sometimes, minimal movement is exactly what your nervous system needs to reset.

Maybe it’s five minutes of gentle stretching while your coffee brews, or just standing up to reach for the ceiling between meetings. Those tiny moments of movement count. They tell your brain that you are showing up for yourself, even when life feels heavy.

If you’re ready to break free from the pressure of being 'all in' and start finding a path that actually fits your life, I’d love to help. You don’t have to figure it all out today.

Ever feel a sudden spike in anxiety, shaky hands, or a racing heart out of nowhere? 🌪️

It might not just be "all in your head." Sometimes, our nervous system reacts to what’s happening in our gut. When our blood sugar drops too low, the body releases adrenaline to compensate, and that adrenaline rush feels exactly like a panic attack or a surge of worry.

One of the simplest ways to support your mental health is focusing on "steady fuel." Instead of a quick sugar fix, try pairing your snacks:
✅ Carbs + Protein (Apple + Almond butter)
✅ Fiber + Fat (Hummus + Carrots)

Stable energy = a calmer nervous system. 🧘‍♀️

What’s your favorite "steady fuel" snack? Let us know below! 👇

Feeling the "February Slump"? You aren’t alone. 🌨️

By mid-February, the long stretch of gray days and early sunsets can really start to weigh on our mood, energy, and even our appetite. This isn’t just "winter laziness": it’s a biological response to decreased sunlight that affects our serotonin and melatonin levels.

If you’re feeling more tired than usual or just "stuck," here is one tiny, sustainable habit to try this week:

☀️ Seek 10 minutes of natural light before noon. Even if it’s cloudy, getting outside for a quick walk or sitting by a bright window helps regulate your internal clock and can give your mood a much-needed nudge.

Be gentle with yourself. You don’t have to do it all: just one small step at a time.

Is the winter gloom making you feel stuck? We’re here to help you find your direction again.

Notice your energy dipping with the shorter days? You’re not alone. ☁️

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is more than just the "winter blues", it’s a biological response to less sunlight that can affect your mood, sleep, and appetite.

Today, we’re starting a new series on depression and seasonal mood changes. The first tiny step to help regulate your nervous system? Try to find 10 minutes of natural light today, even if it's cloudy. It helps reset your internal clock and supports your mood. 💙

Ever feel like your morning coffee is doing more than just waking you up? Sometimes that "boost" can feel a lot like a racing heart, shallow breathing, or a wave of worry.

Caffeine mimics the body’s "fight or flight" response, which can amplify anxiety if your nervous system is already on high alert. You’re not alone if that second cup makes you feel a bit "stuck" in a cycle of panic.

If you aren't ready to give up your brew, try these nervous-system-friendly tweaks:

☕ Don’t drink it on an empty stomach. Pair it with protein or healthy fats to slow caffeine absorption.
💧 Hydrate first. Drink a full glass of water before your first sip of coffee.
🚶 Move mindfully. A 5-minute walk after your cup can help your body process that extra energy.

Finding your "true north" means listening to what your body needs to feel safe and grounded. If anxiety feels like it's taking the wheel, we’re here to help you navigate back to calm.
