Newcomer, started in the funeral business in Brodhead, February 25, 1930 when he became associated with Paul Schilling. Schilling in 1934. Dwight then discontinued the furniture business. At that time, he opened the Newcomer Funeral Home at the 602 10th Street location. Dan’s mother, Mrs. Marie Newcomer, was closely associated with the business and was a licensed funeral director. Daniel attained

his license from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science, Milwaukee in 1967. While attending mortuary school, Daniel was associated with the Bruskiewitz Funeral Home in Milwaukee. He served as a licensed director for three years at the Frautschi Funeral Home, currently Cress Funeral Home, Madison. He returned to Brodhead in 1971 to join his father’s business. Dan purchased the business from his father in 1972 and continued operating the business from his residence, 602 10th St., Brodhead. It was decided that a new facility was needed to accommodate the growing business so in 1997 a new building was constructed. The current location is 1105 E. 9th Ave., Brodhead. On July 2, 2019, Dan and Kari Newcomer transitioned the business to Jarod and Tania Williams as the new owners. Dan and Kari will start to enjoy a little more traveling and time at the lake house but will still be available to families as needed. As Jarod and Dan continue to serve the community together, we will ensure families are and will be treated with the respect and dignity that the Newcomer family has provided in the past. Jarod with run the day to day operations and will assist with families as the funeral home continues to grow and serve Brodhead and the surrounding communities. Jarod was born and raised in the area and graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1998. He has been licensed for over 20 years as a director and also is licensed insurance agent to assist families with pre-arrangements and pre-funding solutions with Homesteaders Life Insurance. The DL Newcomer Funeral home sponsored the Trouvaille Coffee truck today. Showing our support and appreciation for all the Albrecht grade school staff. They enjoyed hot coffee and iced coffee drinks to get ready for the start of the year.

Thank you to all the Albrecht Grade school teachers, admin staff, para-teachers and maint. staff for what you do for our community.

And Thank you to all the middle and High school teachers as well.

Concerts in the Park are sponsored by the DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead. The concerts start in mid June and go for 9 weeks. They are held at the Veterans Memorial Park, which is located on the corner of Hwy 11 and 12th Street. 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm There is no charge to come and listen to the music. In case of inclement weather, the park will be posted with the directions of where to go to attend the concert indoors.
