Next week I’m headed to Atlanta to join the 13th Annual Oncology Nursing Symposium at Northside Hospital Cancer Institute!

I’m honored to be invited back to share on a topic close to my heart—Oncology S*xual Health. Every time I get the chance to connect with cancer-fighting colleagues, I’m reminded why this work matters: because whole-person care means honoring intimacy, relationships, and quality of life right alongside treatment.

Grateful for the opportunity, and excited for the conversations ahead! 💙

S*x and intimacy are deeply personal and woven into our identities, relationships, and bodies. But even in loving partnerships, talking about s*x can feel…. Awkward. Emotional. Maybe even risky. Overactive Bladder (OAB)

For many women, OAB can feel like a hidden struggle. It’s more than just “going often”—it can affect daily routines, emotional health, and intimacy.

Did you know?
* About 1 in 6 adults experience OAB symptoms
* 30–40% of women will be impacted in their lifetime
* Millions are living with OAB, but many never seek help

Common symptoms may include:
💧 Strong, sudden urges to urinate
💧 Going to the bathroom more than 8 times in 24 hours
💧 Waking up multiple times at night to urinate
💧 Fear of leakage or not making it in time

The struggles go beyond the bathroom:
*Anxiety around travel, work, or social plans
*Interrupted sleep and daytime fatigue
*Impact on confidence and intimacy

If this feels familiar, you’re not alone! Educate yourself - the more you know about this issue, the better you can advocate for yourself. Start a conversation with your urologist. Seek the input of a pelvic floor physical therapist. This is about your quality of life - don't give up! 💜

The National Association For Continence provides education, community and support to those living with bladder, bowel or pelvic floor health disorders.
