This is a humorous way of pointing out that therapists are REAL people that struggle as well. We are not here to judge you or shame you. We are here to walk beside you (and yes, sometimes, we laugh together). Your therapist is not a robot that has everything completely figured out, HOWEVER they might have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night (for those of you that remember the commercial, this should get a chuckle)! LOL ...

Therapy is HARD. So, why would people willingly go??? Many reasons!

Just because something is hard, challenging, or difficult to achieve doesn't mean it isn't worth it, right? Think about athletes, successful business persons, community leaders, parenting, marriage, families in general, etc. Those things come with ups-and-downs and various difficulties, but when we endure and find a healthy way through, we often end up with something even better. Now, sometimes, that "something better" involves setting boundaries, and possibly upsetting a few people along the way. True. However, being healthy is definitely worth ruffling a few feathers.

Therapy can also be wonderful, empowering, calming, and a reminder of just how incredible you are as an individual and contributor to this world. The right fit is important. Don't shy away from asking questions, and if your therapist is stepping on something that is too much, let them know - it's ok to slow things down and talk about puppies (or whatever else) while you re-center - don't just feel like you have to "push through" something that is becoming overwhelming in the moment!

Therapy is also a journey. No guarantees. No magic. Just 2 people in a room where you can "say all the things" and then, see what comes next.

Give it a try. You might surprise yourself. 🥰

A good friend and Therapist posted this, and it rings very, very true! Don’t be afraid of the hard work, and don’t assume because it’s difficult that you’re doing it wrong. Sometimes getting to the good place requires trudging through some challenges, but you’re never alone when doing so.

A little humor to start your day…

Truth. Keep going. You’re getting there!

Truth. Keep going. You’re getting there!

Read that again.

You’re probably not giving yourself enough credit.

Progress doesn’t always feel loud.
Sometimes it’s quiet.
Sometimes it’s just you, becoming the person you once wished you could be.

Drop a ❤️ if you needed this reminder today.

Sometimes, as you continue your journey towards healthy change, you have to walk through a period of loneliness until you encounter others that are also seeking new life, change, and building a healthy existence. It's ok. The time will come. Enjoy the journey and remember that just because it's familiar, it doesn't make it good. Have patience. Be compassionate toward yourself as you figure things out. It's going to be worth it.

A little laugh can help sometimes…

When you are noticing a behavior you dislike in yourself, take a moment to pause and choose to be curious instead of judgmental. Be curious about it - "Hey, what's that about?" Instead of judgmental "Oh my gosh, I freaking did it again!"

The language we use when exploring our thoughts and feelings is key to helping us navigate things more openly and without fear.

Remember - would you talk to your best friend this way? Would you talk to a child this way? Would you talk to someone suffering this way?

Choose compassion for yourself the same way you so often and readily offer it to others. And remember - therapy can help with implementing these thinking changes! 😊
