Stress Buster #7 for Stress Awareness Month is to Support Your Ability To Get A Good Nights Sleep.
I meet so many people who don’t feel they sleep well or don’t feel rested.
Sometimes the challenge runs deep enough that it takes a bit more than a few tips (and I can help you in that case too).
But even then, if you’re not supporting your chances of good rest with some of the basics, then a few tweaks may go further than you think!
A few simple and powerful tips to implement:
☀️ Get outside to get sun on your face in the morning. The early morning sun helps trigger your body to produce melatonin in the evening to signal sleep.
💡 Dim the lights in the evening as bedtime approaches. This will let your body know that bedtime is coming and help calm your nervous system to help you sleep better.
🍵 Consider your sleepytime beverage of choice. Some people rely on alcohol to wind down and feel they fall asleep easier, but unfortunately it disrupts your body’s ability to repair and recover overnight. So while you may “sleep”, it isn’t restorative. Try chamomile or lavender tea to help you relax instead and see if it makes a difference.
A good nights rest makes a world of difference for the balance of our hormones, immune system, gut health, mood. All impacting how we experience stress.
