A little structure can change the balance of the entire lower face.

For this treatment we focused on two areas that work closely together. Her lips were gradually built using 1.5 syringes of Restylane to restore shape and volume, while support was added to the lower face with filler placed in the pre-jowl sulcus.

When the lower face is supported and the lips are balanced to the features, everything starts to flow together more naturally.

Filler migration. Let’s talk about it.

First, what it is.

Filler migration is when product moves from the area it was intentionally placed into surrounding tissue. This can happen when too much product is used, when it is placed incorrectly, or when treatments are layered too aggressively over time. It often shows up as puffiness, heaviness, or blurred definition instead of structure.

Now, what it isn’t.

Normal swelling is not migration.
Minor softening over time is not migration.
Product integrating into the tissue is not migration.

Social media has made it seem like every change is migration. It is not.

When filler is placed conservatively, in the correct plane, with respect for anatomy and spacing between treatments, the risk is significantly reduced.

This is why technique matters.
This is why less is often more.
This is why long term planning is part of every consultation.

If you ever feel unsure about previous filler, it is okay to ask questions. The solution is not panic. It is assessment.
