Meet Jim, this week’s IRC Graduate Spotlight! In the summer of 2022, Jim completed his fourth “tour of duty” at Injury Rehab Clinic. This go-around, Jim was rehabilitating a right shoulder rotator cuff injury, which he claims was his most difficult recovery yet. Jim has had the opportunity to experience the clinic in it’s infancy when he rehabilitated an elbow injury roughly 30 years ago with Mary Beth. Now three decades later, Jim came back with one more body part to rehabilitate in IRC’s 34th year of operation! Jim successfully overcame his persistent shoulder pain and stiffness, and now leads a very active and fulfilling life without his shoulder limiting any of his daily occupations. We always love catching up with our pal Jimbo, and we proudly consider Jim family here at IRC!

Meet Sue, this week’s IRC Graduate Spotlight! Sue was referred to IRC through her brother’s recommendation after injuring her shoulder some time ago. Sue is an avid golfer, and an extremely talented artist. Over the last year, Sue has rehabilitated multiple body parts with the staff at Injury Rehab Clinic and now finds herself back on the golf course playing regularly! Sue quickly made her mark on IRC both figuratively and literally; Sue now has a wall named after her that displays her exceptionally creative, vibrant, and witty canvas artwork that reflects her time at Injury Rehab Clinic. We proudly consider Sue family here at IRC, and can’t wait to see what she adds next to her fabulous collection!

Meet Dinah and Mary, this month’s Mother/Daughter edition of IRC Graduate Spotlight! Dinah has persevered through one of the most complex shoulder recoveries imaginable, but through it all, she has remained steadfast with her progress and demonstrated that she is truly a force to be reckoned with! After multiple surgeries, numerous consultations with varying medical specialists, and a fractured collarbone along the way, Dinah finished her shoulder rehab with a flare, and is now leading the active lifestyle she longed to resume. Dinah is playing golf multiple times per week in the summer, traveling without shoulder limitations, and acts as the primary caretaker for her spunky mother, who turns 97 this December. Mary came to Injury Rehab Clinic with limited shoulder mobility secondary to a fractured humerus bone. Mary put the petal to the metal when doing her exercises at IRC, and she worked very hard to recover function in her dominant upper extremity. Each session with Mary was accompanied by a little story time, and always a boatload of laughter! We are forever grateful for our friendship with the dynamic mother-daughter duo that is Dinah and Mary, and we proudly consider them family here at IRC!

Meet Dan, this month's IRC Graduate Spotlight! Dan came to Injury Rehab with a tremendously limited and painful frozen shoulder. Dan, AKA Sparky, quickly assimilated to the chaotic environment that IRC breeds and provided many laughs and good times along his road to recovering full function of his dominant right shoulder. Dan put in the grueling work that anyone who has had a frozen shoulder knows can bring tears to your eyes, but he gutted it out and made it to the finish line with his head held high! We proudly consider Sparky family here at IRC, and wish him the best with his future endeavors pushing his rehabilitated shoulder to the limits!

Meet Tom, this month's Graduate Spotlight, and IRC's very own in-house comedian! Tom was a patient at Injury Rehab some 20+ years ago and has now returned for his Master's Degree in Rotator Cuff Rehabilitation! Tom kept the IRC staff entertained with each and every visit, and brings a level of enthusiasm to therapy that even Mary Beth had a difficult time matching! We proudly consider Tom family here at IRC, and wish him the best with his shoulder recovery.

Meet Sue, this month's IRC Graduate Spotlight. Sue quickly assimilated to the chaotic environment within the walls of Injury Rehab Clinic, and even helped stir the pot on occasion! Sue's fantastic sense of humor, charm, and easily-distractible nature made her the source of countless laughs and good memories. We are entirely grateful for her willingness to accommodate our ever-changing schedule, and her award for being the most flexible patient to schedule was her very own Gumby figurine gifted to her on her discharge day! We proudly consider Sue family here at IRC, and wish her nothing but the best as she carries on brightening the days of all she encounters!

Meet Chuck, this week’s IRC Graduate Spotlight! Chuck has endured three separate bouts of shoulder therapy at IRC, earning him our first honorary doctorate degree! Chuck most recently completed rehab for a rotator cuff and biceps repair. He is now back swinging the golf clubs and breezing through his Honey-Do List like never before! Chuck was an absolute pleasure to work with, and always brought levity and laughter to the clinic environment. We proudly consider Chuck family here at IRC, and wish him the best in his future endeavors!

Meet Greg and Jim, this week’s first tandem IRC Graduates Spotlight! Greg first came to Injury Rehab with shoulder troubles that resulted in surgery to repair a bad tear in his right shoulder. Greg is an avid tennis player, and enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle. Greg underwent some grueling therapy sessions to recover full motion and strength in his dominant arm, and his effort and drive never wavered when challenged in therapy. In fact, Greg loved his time at IRC so much that he is now back to rehab a knee injury in an attempt to get back out on the tennis courts as soon as possible. Greg then directed Jim our way after hearing about the shoulder pain he was having during and after their tennis matches. Jim’s shoulder issues stemmed from rotator cuff imbalance, and his recovery involved vigorous stretching followed by a rigorous strengthening program. He quickly assimilated to the IRC culture, and was an absolute pleasure to work with! Jim is now back playing tennis multiple times per week with zero pain. All in all, we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such friendly, driven, witty, and hard working gentleman. We proudly consider Greg and Jim family here at IRC!

We proudly consider Fred family here at IRC, and if there were an award for Best Dressed @ Discharge, Fred takes the cake!
