🌹 Today marks the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina—a tragedy that forever changed New Orleans, the Gulf region and those impacted.

In the aftermath, funeral directors played a vital role in the recovery and identification efforts, offering families the chance to grieve and lay loved ones to rest with dignity. National Funeral Directors Association helped organize teams of volunteers, many of whom served for months in devastated communities.

The Funeral Service Foundation supported healing by donating $100,000 toward the Hurricane Katrina Memorial, the resting place of 86 unclaimed or unidentified individuals. Dedicated in 2010, NFDA and Foundation leaders stood alongside families as caskets were placed in the mausoleum.

We remember the lives lost, honor the resilience of survivors and recognize the compassion and commitment of funeral professionals who stepped forward in service.
