When your little one wakes up crying at 2AM with “growing pains”… it’s exhausting, and honestly, a little heartbreaking 💔

You’ve probably been told:
“They’re just growing pains.”

But here’s something most parents aren’t told…

✨ That phrase has been around since the 1800s
✨ Up to 40% of kids (ages 2–12) experience this
✨ And it’s often dismissed as “normal”

But just because it’s common doesn’t mean it should be ignored.

If your child is dealing with:
• Night-time leg pain that disrupts sleep
• Achy, throbbing legs (quads, hamstrings, or calves)
• Even lower back or hip discomfort

There may be more going on beneath the surface.

In many cases, we see a connection between:
✔️ Spinal stress or misalignments
✔️ Muscle imbalances and postural tension
✔️ Pelvic imbalances affecting leg function
✔️ Past falls, birth stress, or activity-related strain

All of these can impact how your child’s body moves, rests, and heals, especially at night.

The beautiful part? When the body is supported properly, it often responds beautifully.

We’ve had so many parents share that after gentle, specific pediatric adjustments, their kids:
💤 Sleep more peacefully
💤 Wake up less (or not at all!)
💤 No longer need those middle-of-the-night leg massages

If you’ve been told to “just wait it out,” know that you have options ❤️

And at home, you can also support your child with:
• Gentle stretching (low back, quads, hamstrings)
• Staying well hydrated
• Warm baths or compresses before bed

You don’t have to keep guessing, and your child doesn’t have to keep hurting.

If this sounds like your family, we’re here to help guide you through it.

Do you feel constantly irritable? Do you snap at your kids for no reason, or get angry 🤬 if someone even looks at you the wrong way? (Yeah, we’ve all been there.) These are symptoms of chronic stress, or an overly active ‘fight or flight’ response.

🤯 This amount of irritability is not normal for our bodies. The original purpose of the fight or flight response? To respond to danger. Think about your ancestors running from a tiger. That’s the perfect use of fight or flight!

Unfortunately, the amount of stress we're under in today's society means that, often, that fight or flight response gets locked on and doesn’t shut off. Our stressed brain communicates to the body that there is danger, leaving us in an ongoing state of tension.

Fight or flight can:

🔹increase the blood flow to the muscles

🔹stimulate the production of epinephrine and norepinephrine

🔹 increase our heart rate

These are all functions that help us survive when actual danger occurs, but cause unnecessary panic symptoms when no clear danger is present.

Chiropractic adjustments help rebalance your nervous system so that we're removing that exacerbated fight or flight input, allowing your body to get back to a more normal restful state.

What would it feel like if your body wasn’t overly reacting to stress? That’s possible for you with regular chiropractic care! 💖

Back pain can slowly take over your life.

Simple things like bending down, getting out of the car, or sleeping comfortably suddenly become difficult. And if you’re dealing with a herniated disc or sciatica, the pain can travel down your leg and make everyday movement exhausting.

Many people think surgery or medication are their only options… but that’s not always the case.

✨ Spinal Decompression Therapy is a gentle, non-surgical treatment designed to relieve pressure on the spine and nerves. It works by creating space between the vertebrae so discs can rehydrate and heal.

Patients often experience benefits like:
✔ Reduced nerve pressure and pain
✔ Improved mobility and flexibility
✔ Support for natural disc healing
✔ Relief from sciatica symptoms
✔ A safe alternative to surgery

If back pain has been holding you back, there may be a better path forward.

Why Dr. Nicole Started Knapp Chiropractic

Freedom. That’s what my job is about. Letting you do the things you want to do in the way you want to do them. Whether that’s washing your classic car, playing on the floor with your grandkids, getting aggressive in a game of pickup basketball or just keeping up with life.

That word has been central to my practice – not just for my patients, but in my own career. There’s nothing worse than being unhappy with your chosen career path – but that’s where I was before starting Knapp Chiropractic.

Let’s rewind a bit though…to a simpler time. I grew up with a passion for helping others and always knew healthcare was my path. When I was a kid, my grandma who was sick used to say, “Nicole, hurry up and be a doctor so you can fix me.” The journey to chiropractic was a simple decision – no blood, no medications, and a hands on approach with fast results – I pretty much always knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I studied biology, went to chiropractic school and entered practice.

And then, for a moment, I thought I was wrong. After school I worked for a larger “treat ‘em and street ‘em” chiropractic office here patients were rushed out the door. I didn’t have the luxury of time with my patients. I didn’t have the flexibility to get creative with their care.
