We believe there are five core needs that we must meet in order to truly feel human and fully connected to other humans.

Oftentimes, we structure our lives to meet several of these basic human needs, but we may lose sight of the others. If we can identify our unmet human needs, we can then do the good work that will make us more human again.

Let’s all strive to do more good human work. Consider how you are living out the core needs:

Trust, Respect, Connection, Engagement, and Flexibility

What are you waiting for? Today's the day to start getting healthier. What can you do today to improve your physical, mental, or relational health?

Consider one of these:

- schedule your annual well visit
- schedule your annual mental health check up (we do these!)
- schedule a relationship check up (we do these too!)
- go for a walk
- commit to an earlier bedtime
- start a mindfulness practice
- laugh with a friend
- eat less sugar
- have screen free hours during your evening

Our therapists can't begin to count the number of times they say this to clients! When we "pull back" from our feelings, numb them, or pretend them away, we actually make things worse.

The only way for feelings to not be in control is to allow them a moment of space, meet the need (if there is one), and let them go. We can do this in private, or silently if others are around. It can be scary to do this if it's new to you, but you'll feel better quickly.
