Sunday afternoon at Molten Java was filled with music, conversation, and the smell of delicious food and drinks as Empathy Is The Cure raised money for Been Beautiful’s upcoming project, the Caterpillar Project, aiming to address the root cause of many mental health issues by teaching children the importance of and how to regulate emotions.

The Been Beautiful is forever grateful for Barry Seroff and his Empathy is the Cure series for organizing this event—we have very fortunately been able to raise $326 to fund classroom and art supplies for TCP! A big shoutout to the performers—Barry Seroff, Jade Stabile, and Conor Andrews—for their beautiful performances to help support our cause! You can check out their performances on Empathy is the Cure’s page. And, of course, thank you SO much to all who came to support and donated! Your contributions and support make a difference and allows us to effectively expand our reach.

Empathy is the Cure will have their next event on August 3rd at Molten Java to fundraiser for su***de prevention—go support them and have fun!!

Thank you to everyone who donated menstrual products as well as the Brookfield High School Leo Club—all together, our drive was able to gather products worth $1000+ to donate to The Center for Empowerment and Education! Our donation included pads, tampons, and goody bags from the BHS Leos containing hygiene products, games, and arts and crafts for the displaced women and children at The Center’s shelter. Your donations will truly make a difference in the lives of others—communities are stronger together!

Come support Been Beautiful at our bake sale this Friday! Volunteers will be at Four Corners in Brookfield, CT, from 1 - 4 PM. Sexual assault (SA) is a crisis that impacts people of all genders, ages, and sexualities. Anyone can be a victim or a perpetrator. SA can severely impact a survivors wellbeing, routine, and behaviors—issues that only worsen when they do not receive the support they need, which may hinder them from reaching out for help or filing a report.

In this post, learn more about the impacts of SA and the importance of supporting victims and how to do so. If you or somebody you know has been impacted by SA, please do not hesitate to utilize the resources provided at the end of this post.

An estimated 500 million people worldwide struggle to access menstrual products, which is needed to adequately care for their body. In the United States alone, 1 in 4 teens and 1 in 3 adults face this issue.

Been Beautiful is seeking donations of menstrual products to benefit local women in need in Connecticut and Mississippi. Donation boxes can be found throughout Fairfield County in CT and Lee County in MS—details regarding specific locations will be made available soon.

Members and volunteers gathered last Friday to decorate donation boxes for our upcoming menstrual products drive! Thank you to everyone who came; all of the boxes look BEAUTIFUL! Happy Women’s History Month!

Every March, people in the US, UK, and Australia appreciate and celebrate the accomplishments of women who have prevailed despite gender-based prejudices. Women have revolutionized technology, entertainment, and more, including, of course, mental health!

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Been Beautiful team would like to highlight women in mental health and *some* of their achievements. In this post, learn about some prominent female figures in the mental health field as well as some statistics regarding women’s mental health.

Come support Been Beautiful this Saturday (12/18) in Ridgefield, CT, from 1 PM - 4 PM! We will be raising funds in front of 409 Main Street for an event in January in partnership with a local nursing home. We will be selling cake pops, cinnamon rolls, and more in addition to hot chocolate and coffee! A card-making station will also be available to later hand out to the residents of the nursing home. We can't wait to see you all!!

Every November 11th, the United States observes Veterans Day to honor those who have served in the military. Veterans make up an estimated 6% of the population and have put their lives on the line to protect their country and fellow citizens.

The brave efforts of Veterans, however, may take a large toll on their well-being.

Veterans are susceptible to homelessness and various mental health issues as a result of traumatic events or the inability to readjust to daily life after leaving the military. In this post, learn more about the challenges Veterans face and methods and resources to cope.

Hello everyone,

The application form for positions including graphic designer, content creator, and community outreach coordinator will be temporarily closed beginning today, July 30th. Our team has decided to review and edit the application process to be more thorough and selective.

All applications that were submitted beforehand will still be reviewed and have their decisions sent out within a week as per our former procedure.

This reform process will hopefully take 1 - 2 weeks. A notice will be sent out once applications are reopened detailing the new process. Please email us at contact@beenbeautiful.org if you have any questions or concerns, thank you.

We would like to thank all the kind volunteers that baked and came on their Spring Break to help make this bake sale possible, as well as the parents who helped out and the kind people of Brookfield. Thanks to the generosity of the people, we were able to raise $532.80!

With these generous donations, we will be able to file for 501(c)3 status to be recognized as an official nonprofit, as well as organize a summer movie night. Once again, thank you!
