Know Your Risk: Cardiac Calcium Score Screening
In recognition of American Heart Month, Pershing Health System is reminding you that you can get a Cardiac Calcium Score screening for an out-of-pocket cost of $100 with a doctor’s order
A cardiac calcium scan is a non-invasive CT scan designed for people ages 40 to 75 that can help detect early signs of heart disease. By measuring calcium buildup in the coronary arteries, this simple screening helps assess your risk for heart disease, heart attack, and stroke, even before symptoms appear.
Understanding Your Score:
• 0 – No detectable calcium; low risk of heart disease.
• 1-99 – Mild evidence of plaque; moderate risk.
• 100+ – Increased risk of heart disease.
• 400+ – High risk; potential for significant heart issues.
If you have risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking history, or a family history of heart disease, this screening can provide crucial insight into your heart health and guide proactive care.
A Doctor's Order Is Required: Contact your doctor to request an order for the PHS Cardiac Calcium Score screening.
