At Silver Cross Health and Rehab our focus is to provide quality nursing home care and rehabilitation therapy services to each and every individual who finds their home in our care. Silver Cross Health and Rehab is Mississippi-owned and

operated. We are licensed by the State of Mississippi and offer Medicaid and Medicare services, as well as short- and long-term care. Above all, our goal is to be a place that you or your loved one is proud to call home. Silver Cross Nursing Home was organized in 1965 by the ladies of the Willing Hearts Circle of the International Order of The King’s Daughters and Sons, an interdenominational Christian service organization. Willing Hearts was formed by a group of local women in 1894 in Brookhaven with the mission of ministering to the needs of others. This group of ladies purchased the furnishings of the Brookhaven Sanitarium(hospital), and in 1922 they opened a new hospital on the corner of N. Jackson and W. Congress Streets. A nursing school was also operated there between 1924 and 1944. When the King’s Daughters Hospital moved to its current location on Hwy 51, the city of Brookhaven deeded the old hospital location on N. Jackson to Willing Hearts with the purpose of housing Silver Cross Nursing Home. The name Silver Cross comes from the International Order’s badge, which is the Silver Maltese Cross. In 1996 the new 60-bed facility was completed and Silver Cross moved into its current location on Silver Cross Drive behind King’s Daughters Medical Center. In 2014 the Silver Cross board of directors leased the management of the home to Advanced Health Care Management (AHM). The ladies of Willing Hearts still own and sit on the boards of King’s Daughters Medical Center, Silver Cross Health & Rehab and Kingsborough Elderly Housing in Brookhaven.

Day 1 of National Nursing Home Week was a beautiful start to our “Moments in Bloom” celebration!
Today’s theme, “Bloom Where You Are Planted – Island Style,” with Arden Home Health and Hospice brought so much joy, laughter, and tropical fun to our residents and staff. The day was filled with exciting activities including coconut bowling, bubbles, limbo, hula dancing, tropical fruit, refreshing punch, and a festive tiki bar atmosphere.
From the smiles to the music and island vibes, it was truly a great way to begin Nursing Home Week and create special moments together. 🌺🌴🍍

We kicked off National Nursing Home Week with an amazing opening ceremony filled with community spirit and celebration! Special thanks to Scott Kelly, Administrator, for leading the event, the Camelia Line Dancers for their wonderful performance, the Brookhaven Fire Department for their support, and Mayor Larry Jointer for joining us to help make the occasion so special.
Our residents and staff truly enjoyed the music, fellowship, and excitement as we began a week dedicated to honoring the lives, stories, and care of our nursing home community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a memorable success!

We ended the week with Arden Hospice playing nursing home bingo and enjoying dirty lemonades! 🍋
We also had a delicious cake from Primos Cafe sent by Mrs. Carla Byrd, and super cute new nurse t-shirts by Brooke Ballard.
Feeling so blessed and thankful for the wonderful group of nurses we have at Silver Cross Health and Rehab. Your compassion, teamwork, and dedication make every day special. 💙👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

Today was all about rest, relaxation, and resetting. Staff enjoyed a cozy pajama day along with wonderful massages provided by Mr. Clarence Sims from The Mood Salon.
Special thanks to St. Luke Hospice for providing delicious donuts, fresh fruit, and iced coffee for everyone to enjoy. ☕🍩🍓

Today, Accent Home Care and Bristol Hospice came together for a fun-filled day of great food, friendly competition, and lots of laughter!
We enjoyed pulled pork, potato salad, and baked beans while cheering each other on during our stick horse races 🐴😂
So thankful for the amazing teamwork, smiles, and memories made today. Nurses Week continues to remind us how special it is to work alongside such caring and dedicated people. 💙

What an amazing morning out on the water! The weather was perfect, the fish were biting, and everyone had a fantastic time.
A big shoutout to Dickerson and Bowen for joining us and providing our residents with fishing poles, bait, and supplies. A special thank you to our dietary staff for preparing sack lunches for the trip! Donnie and Mandy Smith, thank you, thank you , thank you , for the hospitality and allowing us to bring our residents to make so many memories.
