When I catch a creative flow and don’t want to stop until I’ve poured everything out of me that I have to pour, I keep something sweet nearby.

Sustained creative flows require an immense amount of brain energy and much like our muscles at the gym, the brain requires fuel to withstand these long sessions. Rather than dropping blood sugar further with black coffee or drugs, I prefer grabbing things like juice, jam, honey, sweetened tea or fruit to keep my brain happy and active.
