KAYLA THURMAN, CPNP
Kayla is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and co-owner of Ole Brook Kids, P.C. She has over 13 years of pediatric experience including pediatric intensive care, pediatric emergency medicine and pediatric primary care. She received her BSN from University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2012 and started her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). She went on and received her MSN as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from University of Alabama Birmingham in 2015 and is Board Certified with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Kayla has gained years of invaluable pediatric experience as a PICU nurse and a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital. During the past 13 years of her career, she has continued to practice with passion and pride, dedicated to the pediatric population of Mississippi. With that passion and dedication, Kayla began to see ways to make the local community better, offering something new and needed for working families, understanding sickness doesn’t always happen during the normal 8-5 hours; hence Ole Brook Kids was formed. She is excited for Ole Brook Kids, Pediatric Urgent and Wellness and the growth made in just 2 years.
She and her husband Dillon have 3 children, Kinley, John Luke and Fisher. They are active locally in the community and are active members with their local church, Grace Life Church of Brookhaven. When she isn’t working, you can catch Kayla out on the courts where she has found a love for tennis.
AMBER MARTIN, CPNP
Amber is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and co-owner of Ole Brook Kids, P.C. She has over 25 years of pediatric experience including neonatal intensive care, newborn nursery, labor and delivery, postpartum, and pediatric primary care. She graduated with her BSN from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1999 and began her career working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at University of Mississippi Medical Center. In 2012 Amber continued her education by earning her MSN from The University of South Alabama and is Board Certified with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is an active member of the American association of Nurse Practitioners.
Amber started her nursing career working in the NICU at UMMC in Jackson, MS where she gained a foundation for pediatric medicine, taking care of tiniest and sickest pediatric patients. In her practice today, you can find Amber loving on newborns like they were her own. Her last 10+ years have been as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care locally where she continues to grow her practice with passion and empathy.
Amber is married to Brad Martin. They have been married for 25 years and have three children, Makayla, Mallory, and Maddox. The children have kept them busy in local activities and sports with two children playing soccer at the collegiate level. They are active members at Calvary Baptist Church. They have lived in Lincoln county for 19 years and enjoy being active in the community.
