The Southwest Mississippi Nurse Honor Guard was recently honored with a special meet-and-greet reception and monetary donations in observance of Nurses Week.
Contributing funeral homes included Franklin Funeral Home, Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home, Wilson Funeral Home, Brookhaven Funeral Home, and Hathorn Funeral Home. The Nurse Honor Guard provides a meaningful Nightingale Tribute at the funerals of nurses, recognizing their dedication and service to the profession with dignity and respect. In addition to their local service, members of the Southwest Mississippi Nurse Honor Guard will travel to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., this October. During the visit, they will lay wreaths in honor of military nurses who are laid to rest there.
A wreath will also be placed at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in solemn tribute. The donations will be used to support the purchase of these commemorative wreaths. This recognition highlights the continued commitment of the Nurse Honor Guard to honoring nurses both in life and in remembrance.
