The cold has already been here for a while, but today is the first official day of Winter, and it is also the Winter Solstice. This means that today is the shortest day of year, and the amount of sunlight will increase slowly each day until the longest day in June! ❄️🎄🥶

❄️🤍 Today’s dress-up day was “White Christmas,” and Brookings fully embraced the spirit — as blizzard warnings swirled outside!
We stayed cozy and warm indoors while enjoying a truly special treat. We were delighted to welcome Don and Kay Norton, who filled our home with beautiful Christmas music and holiday cheer. 🎶✨

A heartfelt thank-you to Don and Kay for braving the weather to brighten our day and warm our hearts. It was absolutely lovely and so appreciated by all! ❤️🎄

Our community was feeling extra festive as residents and staff dressed in Santa gear and shades of red to spread the Christmas spirit!

This afternoon, we had a very special visit from Santa himself — and of course, the Grinch couldn’t resist tagging along! 📸🎄 Smiles were everywhere as everyone enjoyed taking pictures and sharing laughs with our holiday guests.

After waving goodbye to Santa and the Grinch, we climbed aboard the bus for a cozy drive around Brookings to admire the beautiful Christmas lights. ✨🚍 And let’s be honest… the only thing that might have outshined the lights was the delicious hot chocolate! ☕❤️

Today we rocked our plaid, and it was SO much fun seeing everyone dressed up in their cozy best!

This afternoon, we rolled up our sleeves for some Christmas cookie magic 🎅🍪—mixing, decorating, and maybe taste-testing a few along the way 😉

So many laughs, sweet treats, and festive fun… what a deliciously awesome day! 🎄✨

💚🎄 Green or Grinch Day Fun! 🎄💚
Today our community was full of holiday spirit as residents and staff went all out for Green or Grinch Dress-Up Day! From festive green outfits to playful Grinchy flair, so many joined in and made the day extra merry.
At lunchtime, we even had a very special guest stop by… 👀💚 The Grinch himself! He couldn’t resist coming to see what all the Grinch fuss was about, and he definitely brought some smiles (and maybe a little mischief 😉).
The fun continued this afternoon when the Brookings Activity Center treated us to beautiful Christmas carols. Their joyful singing warmed our hearts, making the day feel truly magical. 🎶✨

❄️ The weather outside may be frightful, but life here is absolutely delightful! ❄️
Since we’ve got nowhere we need to go… let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
At Peaceful Pines, we’re staying cozy with music that lifts our spirits, crafts that spark creativity, bingo that brings out our competitive side, and plenty of laughter shared with friends. ❤️✨
