Proclamation of Direct Support Professional Recognition Week

WHEREAS, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are the backbone of our agency’s mission, providing essential care, advocacy, and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; and

WHEREAS, DSPs demonstrate daily dedication, skill, and compassion, empowering people to live full, meaningful, and self-directed lives within their homes, workplaces, and communities; and

WHEREAS, the services provided by DSPs are vital in supporting independence, dignity, and inclusion for the individuals we serve; and

WHEREAS, Direct Support Professional Recognition Week is celebrated nationally to honor the invaluable contributions of these professionals; and

WHEREAS, our agency joins with organizations across the country to recognize, uplift, and celebrate the work of DSPs whose commitment makes a lasting difference in the lives of people and families;

NOW, THEREFORE, we proclaim the week of September 8th through 12th, 2025 as DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION WEEK in our agency, and we call upon all staff, families, and community members to join us in expressing our deep gratitude to Direct Support Professionals for their extraordinary dedication and service.

Congradulations to Ann Pavek and Matt Simet for receiving an Excellent Employment Outcomes award at the national Project SEARCH conference they recently attended in Austin, TX. Project SEARCH aims for "excellent employment outcomes," which generally translates to 70% or higher of its graduates securing competitive, integrated employment within nine months of completing the program. This employment is expected to be in settings that are inclusive, offer typical wages, and involve at least 16 hours per week of work. We are so proud of Ann, Matt, and our other Project SEARCH program partners!
