HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!
Embracing Holistic Health and Unlocking Vibrant Well-being with a Lunar New Year Detox: 9 Lunar New Year Habits for a Renewed You.

As the calendar turns, many of us find ourselves caught in the whirlwind of New Year's resolutions while attempting to implement radical changes in the midst of winter’s hibernation. However, as a Holistic Healthcare Practitioner and passionate advocate for well-being who likes to turn to natures’ wisdom, I propose a different approach – let January be a time for rest, reflection, and preparation, paving the way for a transformative journey beginning with the Lunar New Year on February 5th .
In Asian cultures the Lunar New Year is the beginning of the new year based on the lunar calendar or lunisolar calendar. The lunar calendar follows the lunar phase and some would say is the calendar more aligned with our internal rhythms and energies. Women can definitely relate as we even refer to our monthly cycle as our “moon”. In the realm of holistic health, setting intentions allows us to connect with our inner selves, fostering a deeper understanding of our desires and aspirations. Embracing the Lunar New Year’s energy invites a sense of mindfulness, encouraging us to listen to our bodies and minds as we embark on this transformative journey. Rather than pressuring ourselves with strict resolution, lets deposit seeds of positive change through small sustainable habits. These Habits, like the phases of the moon, evolve gradually creating a foundation for lasting well-being. Whether it’s through meditation, yoga, or other mindfulness practices, these intentional moments contribute to our overall well-being and help us navigate the uncertainties of life.
As we usher in the New Year, let’s step away from the conventional resolutions and stringent goal-setting that often accompanies January. Instead consider aligning with the gentle transition of the Lunar New Year energy- a holistic approach that focuses on internal intention and cultivating healthy habits. Here are some of my favorite habits that I will be inviting this Lunar New Year’s Day.

1. Aligning with Lunar Energies: Harness the rejuvenating energy of the Lunar New Year, a time deeply rooted in tradition and the cycles of nature. Embrace the subtle energies of the lunar cycles to align your health goals with the cosmic energies, fostering a harmonious connection between mind, body, and spirit. Consider ending each day this week with a moon meditation connecting with the lunar glow and visualizing the moons serene energy enveloping you in tranquility. Take a moonlit walk, or sit outside and absorb the moon's rays to help you ground and connect deeper to your inner stillness.

2. Mindful Eating and Hydration: Start by cultivating a mindful approach to nourishment. Incorporate seasonal, local, and organic foods into your diet, acknowledging the cyclical nature of the lunar calendar. By doing so, you honor the connection between your body and the earth, promoting overall well-being. Engage in mindful eating practices during the moonlit night, relishing the flavors and textures of nourishing foods. Incorporate the wisdom of the water element into your lunar journey and stay hydrated with moon-energized water. Water that is left out overnight in a glass container, and infusing it with detoxifying elements like cucumber and mint. Hydration becomes a sacred act, cleansing your body and harmonizing with lunar energies.

3. Herbal Support: Explore the realm of herbal remedies to support your health journey. Explore herbal teas and infusion that align with the moon’s energies and the lunar phases, providing gentle detoxification and immune support. Chamomile during the new moon for relaxation, peppermint during the waxing moon for invigoration, or lavender during the full moon for emotional balance.

4. Lunar Intention Setting On the eve of the Lunar New Year, engage in a reflective practice. Set intentions that resonate with the energy of the moon, focusing on holistic well-being. Whether it’s mental clarity, emotional balance, or physical vitality, let your intentions guide your path to a healthier you. This Lunar New Year I am setting the intention to invite a deeper relationship with my breath to support a balance of flow and power in how I run my energy. I am also committing to discover new ways to connect to nature for play and grounding.

5. Holistic Movement: Embrace mindful movement practices such as yoga or Tai Chi, connecting with the natural rhythms of your body and the universe. These practices not only enhance flexibility and strength but also promote balance and harmony within. Consider a lunar dance routine and let the moon guide your movements as a self-expression of the celebration of life, syncing your mind, body and spirit with the cosmic energy.

6. Restorative Sleep: Prioritize restorative sleep as a foundation for overall health. Create a serene sleep environment, aligning your bedtime routine with the lunar cycles. Embrace the tranquility of the moon and create a sleep sanctuary with dim lights and calming rituals to allow your body and mind to rejuvenate during the quieter, darker phases of the moon. Protecting my sleep is critical for my physical and emotional wellbeing. In order to create a nurturing nighttime ritual I have had to create a 7:30pm sharp sleep preparation window where all the family gets things done like cleanup, prep for next day, teeth brushing and bedtime stories. This ensures everyone is in bed at a decent hour so I have time left for 30 mins of meditation, dry brushing, rose oil, redlight therapy or whatever self-care I need that day.

7. Digital Detox: Extend your detoxification efforts beyond the physical realm. Implement a digital detox during the Lunar New Year, taking a break from screens or create protected NO SCREEN time to foster mental clarity and emotional well-being. Reconnect with the present moment and your inner self.

8. Expressive Arts Therapy: Engage in Expressive Arts Therapy to tap into the creative forces within. Whether through writing, painting, or music, channel your emotions and intentions, fostering a deeper connection with your inner self. Consider creating mandalas inspired by the lunar phase using this rhythmic circular art form to represent the cyclical nature of the moon as a calming mediation for you mind and spirit. Explore the therapeutic sound of lunar inspiring instruments like singing bowls or gongs. I will be crafting a collage vision board representing my intentions for the Lunar New Year using images and words that resonate and inspire me. Art can be a powerful creative tool for manifesting positive change and aligning with the holistic energy of the moon.

9. Gratitude Practices: The Lunar New Year is the perfect time to detoxify the mind through gratitude practices. Cultivate an attitude of gratitude, acknowledging the blessings in your life during this time of renewal. Expressing gratitude aligns your energy with positivity, contributing to mental and emotional well-being. Consider ending your day by reflecting on the blessings in your life and acknowledging the positive aspects that contribute to your well- being. Before bed, I like to think about what I am grateful for, what I want to release, and what I am inviting into my day tomorrow. This mindfulness habit serves as a detox for the mind, fostering clarity and serenity.

By embracing these Lunar New Year habits, you embark on a holistic health journey, aligning your well-being with the cyclical rhythms of nature. Let the Lunar New Year be the catalyst for positive change, setting the stage for a year filled with vitality, balance, and renewed energy. As spring approaches and we transition out of the more reflective winter season it will be a transformative time for letting go and cleansing. Incorporate cleansing foods, such as leafy greens, citrus fruits, and herbal infusions, supporting your body’s natural detoxification processes. If you are ready to go deeper into the period of cleansing and energizing your body the spring is a perfect time for a Holistic Detox.

OH NO...your getting sick?

Support your bodies early response to a cold/Flu and nip it in the bud. With the protocol we want to catch it right when it begins and hit it hard so that the virus or bacteria don't have time to produce a large microbe load and overwhelm our bodies. Most critters enter in through our ENT ( Ears, Nose, Throat) area where they replicate to high numbers and then enter our body and blood stream to wreak havoc. If we can stunt this initial process we can lessen/shorten or even prevent many of the symptoms and inconveniences we associate with being sick. So we use targeted nose and through sprays that kill bugs on contact and create an inhospitable environment for them to cause further trouble. We layer on top of this herbs and nutrients that boost our immune responses and manage microbe loads inside our bodies. Many of the discomforts we feel when we are "sick" are the by products of the inflammation that the microbes and immune system activing put on our bodies. Managing this inflammation with antioxidants helps reduce the symptoms and damage that my be caused from this process especially in people that already have excessive underlying inflammation/ chronic health issue's/ toxic load in their bodies. With antioxidats we can reduce our recovery time, damage on our body or excessive histamine/Mast cell activation that can lead to things like Long Haul covid or pnemonia post infections. Many resources are used when our body is activating an immune response but minerals/ electrolytes are some of the most important. If our mineral levels are deficient many of the bug fighting nutrient cant do their job. If you think of you body like a construction site.... your vitamin and herbs are like the lumber and nails for building but your electrolytes are the actual builders and workers that make everything happen.
Additional therapy's like warm epsom salt baths, Fevers, cupping, Nebulizers, Castor oil packs can be amazing for supporting or body in effectively kicking some bug butt. Please see other protocols for the additional therapies and instructions. Most important when preventing serious illness is to catch it early and be consistent the first two days and follow through until two days after fever or when symptoms lessen. Speaking of fevers.

FEVERS ARE FANTASTIC!! Don't be scared ( you are because you have been programed by pharma to be) of fevers because they are the most powerful and safe tool on the planet to kill bugs and protect your body. A whole orchastra of event happen to defend and protect your body with fevers. Did you know that most bugs die with even a slight elevation in body temp for a few hours....did you know fevers increase blood flow and profusion to all part of you body making sure your immune soldiers can travel to every inch of your body and protect it.....Did you know fevers help your lymphatic system eliminate all the trash left behind by bad bugs so it doesnt bog down and poison your body.....did you know that Fevers stimulate release of stem cells that repair and heal your body after and infection!!!!! When we force reduction of a fever we suppress our immune system from being able to effectively fight off the bad bug and we give them a chance to replicate unchecked and cause more damage. We also stunt the repair/restore benefits off a fever. Using fever reducers even once has been linked to a many fold increase in pnemonia post infection. However the most alarming part is that fevers reducers have been linked triggering Asthma, Eczeema, Autoimmune disease and cancer. Yes cancer!!! Years of stunting and dampaning the immune response with meds like Acetaminophen and ibuprophren can supress you immune survalence response which is neccessary for finding cancer cells and removing them before they have a chance to grow. Many of the concerns people have about fevers can all be prevented with proper electrolyte in our system so our body has the fuel to support the energy a fever needs ( bone broth is an amazing source of electrolytes and energy for a fever). Most people are so deficient in minerals the go into every bug without the basic tools for one of our bodies foundation physiological processes. The headaches, fatigue and body pain with a fever can be managed with antioxidants like vitamin C and CBD and proper electrolytes especially calcium will manage to lethargy. However when our bodies are fighting a bug, espeical the first day, is a time for rest, not pushing through and pulling on resources that are needed for bug fighting. Most parent biggest concern is about febrile seisures when to fever gets to high. However most people don't realize that it is not about how high the fever is but instead seizures happen when fever go up or down toooo fast. Controlling a steady temp change for the body is all about electrolytes!!! Kids do their best work between 102-105!!! But kids an go up to 107 without any brain damage. Kids are made to ROCK FEVER!!!!! Adults are usually between 101-103. So the moral of the lessen is support the fever don't fear the fever .
Happy Bug Fighting.
