The rain could not stop us from having a great time at our first annual Memorial Day BBQ! Yesterday, our community came together for an afternoon filled with delicious food, laughter, and meaningful reflection. Members and guests enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, lawn games, and plenty of festive fun as we celebrated the holiday together.

As we shared lunch and watched the Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C., we also took time to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day — honoring and remembering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. It was a beautiful day of community, gratitude, and remembrance, and we are so thankful to everyone who helped make the event so special. ❤️

Yesterday, we had the privilege of welcoming Sean Ellis and the New England Innocence Project (NEIP) to our community for a powerful and thought-provoking presentation on wrongful convictions and the work of The Exoneree Network.

Over the past month, our community has been exploring Sean’s story through the Netflix documentary Trial 4 and through the perspective of our own Elaine Murphy, who has known Sean since childhood and authored a book detailing her advocacy and efforts to help secure his exoneration.

Hearing Sean share his journey firsthand was deeply impactful. His resilience, and the meaningful work he has built through The Exoneree Network to support fellow exonerees, is truly inspiring and has left a lasting impression on our community.

We are truly fortunate to have such an extraordinary community of members—whether they are sharing their own meaningful work or showing up in support of one another.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a screening of the documentary "Rosenwald", inspired by the book written by our member, Peter Ascoli, about his grandfather, Julius Rosenwald. It was a deeply enriching experience to learn about such a remarkable philanthropist through a personal and intimate lens.

The turnout was wonderful, and the sense of connection and engagement in the room made the day all the more special.

Our Member Lecture Series continues to inspire our community. Last week, we had the pleasure of hearing from member Pilar, who presented a thoughtful and enriching talk on Don Quixote, aptly titled “Don Quixote: An Adventure in Reading.” Pilar’s deep connection to this literary classic—shaped by the significant time and care she has devoted to it—brought a unique and compelling perspective. The enthusiastic support from fellow members was both overwhelming and heartwarming, reflecting the strong sense of curiosity and community that makes these gatherings so special!
