Why is group therapy good for children? Children gain a feeling of acceptance, empathy, self-esteem, expression, and self-regulation. At BPAR, we are strong believers in the value of group therapy for adoptees during their developmental years. Here’s a blog explaining what kids can expect in group therapy.

An adoptee’s struggle with their own identity can create challenges.

Here's a blog discussing a tool called the Enneagram, a unique personality framework, which can help to ground an adoptee in the personality of who they are in the present, as well as give them insight into how their early life experiences may have contributed to their childhood wound.

BPAR clinician Madison Janke, LMHC, R-DMT, introduces the Enneagram and provides additional resources for adoptees and families who seek a common language, potentially resulting in better communication and advocacy skills.

We are thrilled to share free videos from our November 2024 Voices Unheard: Real Adoptee Stories live event in Somerville. BPAR’s fifth Voices Unheard brought with it a diverse crowd of adoptees and loved ones who were there to connect, witness, and understand. The night truly illustrated the healing power of storytelling and empathy. We hope this video can be shared far and wide and used to help people understand various and authentic perspectives of the adoptee experiences.

In Episode 8 of our Adoptees in 3: Connecting Mind, Heart, and Action interview series, guest Aimee Seiff Christian, a writer, teacher, and Voices Unheard speaker talks about her family’s wish to keep her adoption a secret, becoming a workaholic and looking for praise from the outside, teaching her daughters to do things because they matter to them and not just to please Aimee as their mother, and gaining a sense of purpose once she heard her biological parents’ story.
