Meet Jen 🩵 An educator at heart and a student for life, Jen brings nearly three decades of dedicated practice to the mat rooted in curiosity, rigor, and lived experience.

🛣️ Her path into yoga began in 1996 as a counterbalance to the intensity of teaching in the New York City school system and that origin story still lives in her work today. Drawing from a wide spectrum of influences, from Prana Flow to Power Yoga to anatomy-informed methodologies, her classes exemplify thoughtful sequencing, moving meditation, and precision without rigidity.

Meet Michael 🕺🛼🏄 A self-taught ice dancer, swing dancer, and surfer, Michael brings a unique sense of rhythm into the Pilates room.

An educator at heart, he has taught writing and history at the college level, African American History within the Rhode Island prison system, and currently teaches 5th grade ESL in Boston Public Schools. His work reflects a sustained commitment to literacy, access, and embodied learning.

Yoga doesn’t end when class does 💭 An upcoming workshop with and invites you to move, reflect, and engage more directly with the deeper questions beneath your practice: questions of purpose, attention, and the values we rehearse each time we step on the mat 🙌

🤸‍♀️📚 Beginning with a 45-minute practice, we’ll then shift into guided reflection and conversation, drawing on prompts from Liz’s forthcoming book Beyond Wellness: How Restoring the Religious Roots of Spiritual Practices Can Heal Us (Penguin Random House, April 2026) to examine yoga as not just a physical discipline, but an ethical and philosophical one.

Led by longtime Boston teacher Ashley Mitchell and professor & author Liz Bucar, this is a space to slow down, think critically, and consider what your practice is actually shaping, in your body, your habits, and your life.
