Ancient wisdom for modern life 🌿

Did you know that asana, the physical postures of yoga, are just one part of the bigger picture? 🦋 Yoga is actually a full toolkit for living with intention, self-awareness, balance, and connection to others, on and off the mat.

In this series of posts, we’ll explore each of the 8 Limbs of Classical Yoga and how you can practice them in your daily life.

➡️ Today we focus on the first limb, Yama, translated as abstinence or restraint. Yama is about external discipline, about modifying our behaviors so that we can live ethically and in harmony with others and the external world. In a time when many of us feel isolated and overwhelmed, small actions that acknowledge our interconnectedness with people and things outside of us can have a big impact on the quality of our lives 🤝

Stay tuned as we continue to explore yoga beyond asana.

Sore shoulders? You need this! ⬆️

Caitlin Green shares a simple at-home practice you can do in just minutes a day to relieve shoulder tension and pain. 🌱 This technique, called myofascial release, helps to alleviate discomfort and improve joint mobility by hydrating and addressing restrictions in our fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, organs, and bones. Think of it as giving yourself a little massage! 🎾 Save this post, and next time your shoulders start to ache, grab a tennis ball and give this powerful self-care technique a try.
